We are glad to announce the successful conclusion of SEEM's 15th Anniversary Celebration, held on September 19-20, 2024, at UTM Kuala Lumpur. Under the theme “Empowering Engineering Educators: Advocating Knowledge and Good Practices,” the event brought together educators, researchers, and professionals from across the engineering education sector. The celebration was officiated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azidah Abu Ziden, Director of the Academic Excellence Division at the Ministry of Higher Education.
Coinciding with SEEM's anniversary, the 6th International Innovative Practices in Higher Education Expo (I-PHEX 2024) was held in collaboration with SEEM, the Centre for Engineering Education UTM (CEE-UTM), and the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES).
During I-PHEX 2024, outstanding participants were recognized for their contributions:
1) Best Overall Presentation: Dr. Muhammad Syafiq Hazwan Ruslan and team (UiTM),
2) Special Award in Higher Education: Puan Siti Aisyah Zakaria and team (UniMAP),
3) Special Award in Engineering Education: Puan Nurul Wahidah Arshad and team (UMPSA).
A key highlight of the event was the signing of an MoU between SEEM and the Japan Society of Engineering Education (JSEE), marking the beginning of an exciting international partnership. SEEM also launched the Professional Engineering Education Certification (PEEC) this year, aimed at enhancing the skills and professional development of engineering educators in Malaysia.
The celebrations concluded with a dinner, where SEEM honored its lifetime members. Prof. Dr. Fatin Aliah Phang was awarded the SEEM Outstanding Member Award, while Dr. Shahrin Mohammad, former SEEM President, received the SEEM Prime Excellence Award in recognition of their remarkable contributions to the field of engineering education.
