The RM27 billion Ibrahim Technopolis (IBTEC) development in Sedenak, Kulai, will become Johor’s new economic powerhouse, integrating technology, innovation, and sustainability into a single, carefully planned ecosystem.
Expected to be fully completed by 2047, IBTEC will create 330,000 job opportunities.
Johor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs and Human Resources, Lee Ting Han, said the IBTEC project involves renowned international urban planners and world-class architectural firms, further enhancing global investor confidence in Johor.
It is also expected to serve as the primary catalyst for the digital sector, data centres, artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, as well as research and development.
Meanwhile, Johor Corporation Chief Executive Officer, Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim, said IBTEC embodies the vision of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, which emphasises responsible stewardship of resources and the well-being of the people in the state’s progressive development.
“IBTEC is the country’s first technopolis that places innovation at its core. Built in a real-world environment, it enables solutions to be developed, tested, and scaled with speed and purpose.
“It is designed to bring together industry, academia, policymakers, and the community in one interconnected ecosystem. Johor and Singapore will collaborate closely, creating value that is mutually beneficial for both sides,” he said.
The launch ceremony of IBTEC was officiated by Tunku Panglima Johor, Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim, alongside the state’s leadership, in Iskandar Puteri.
