Sometimes, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by environmental challenges, like the staggering flush of pollution into our rivers from sewage treatment plants. Can you imagine? Out of 672 rivers, 25 are tarnished in six Malaysian states due to this alone. But here's a silver lining: the number of polluted rivers has decreased, thanks to collective action and stricter regulations. It's reassuring to see that dedication and strengthened laws can make a difference, with fines reaching up to RM10 million for offenders. As I reflect on the vital role these waters play in sustaining agriculture and countless lives, I am reminded of Global Tankcom’s commitment to water treatment—driven by persistence and unity—to restore and protect this essential resource.

🌿 Global Tankcom Engineering Team Site Visit to Prefchem Plant – October 2024 🌿

In October 2024, the Global Tankcom Engineering team visited the Prefchem plant in Johor to provide tailored solutions for the upcoming refinery Turnaround (TA) process effluent management. This TA event is anticipated to be one of the largest refinery turnaround operations in Malaysia, as shared by the plant’s Chief Operations Officer (COO). The scale of the TA, combined with the complex nature of the effluent, requires specialized solutions to manage high COD levels and excessive sludge within a short operational period.

Key Focus Areas of Our Proposal:
🔹 Temporary Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) Unit – Designed for rapid COD reduction, ensuring that even the most recalcitrant organic pollutants are broken down effectively within the short TA timeline.
🔹 Sludge Management Services – Providing comprehensive services for excessive sludge collection, transport, and disposal, ensuring smooth operations without interruptions.
🔹 Short-Term, High-Performance Treatment – A fast-deployable, high-capacity solution tailored to handle fluctuating effluent characteristics during the TA process.

During the visit, the COO provided valuable insights into the sheer magnitude of the refinery’s TA, emphasizing the need for a solution capable of managing thousands of cubic meters of high-strength wastewater while ensuring compliance with discharge regulations.
