DDS- (Development Distribuition and Services-Engineering Office), We are a group of young engineers and architects working to bring affordable and adequate housing materials in urban areas. Studies have shown that about 1.6 billion people in the world live in informal unsafe houses1 made of grass, mud and other scrap materials. One of the most characteristic features of these houses is the precar
ious quality of the constructions, and lack of resistantance to strong winds and rains. Almost all of our team members were raised or once lived in slums, an ocean of iron sheet shacks. With an average income untill today most families still cannot afford what is called 2 rooms bricks house. We have built, trained, maintained and managed large and small brick factories in urban areas in different countries namely Mozambique, South Africa, Malawi, Congo DRC, Lesotho, Nigeria, Lesotho, etc, etc and we are working to expand our coverage to more urban areas, the youth population in urban areas is larger and is growing, each factory we install represents empoyment opportunity and skills transfer to local young people.
