Daily management checklist for your poultry business.
A structured daily management routine is the backbone of a successful poultry farm.
Use this checklist to ensure no critical task is ignored.
🌅 Morning Routine (5 AM – 9 AM)
The most important part of your day for early detection of issues.
Observe Behavior: Before feeding, check if birds are active or dull. Look for huddling (too cold) or panting (too hot).
Remove Mortalities: Inspect for any dead or weak birds and remove them immediately to prevent disease spread.
Environmental Check: Open curtains or adjust ventilation for fresh air. Check for strong ammonia odors or wet litter.
Water Supply: Flush drinker lines or wash drinkers thoroughly. Supply fresh, clean water—if you wouldn't drink it, don't give it to them.
Feeding: Refill feeders with quality feed. Stir feed to reduce wastage and encourage appetite.
Egg Collection (for layers): Collect eggs early to prevent breakage or egg-eating habits.
☀️ Midday Check (12 PM – 2 PM)
Crucial for preventing losses from heat stress or equipment failure.
Refill Water: Check water levels, especially in hot weather when consumption rises.
Ventilation Check: Ensure maximum airflow during peak heat hours.
Isolate Weak Birds: Spot and separate any birds showing signs of diarrhea, lethargy, or injury.
🌇 Evening Routine (4 PM – 7 PM)
Prepares the flock for a safe and productive night.
Final Feeding: Top up feed; birds often eat better when temperatures drop in the evening.
Lighting Check: Ensure the lighting program is on schedule (critical for layer production).
Final Headcount: Do a quick check for overcrowding or birds piling in corners.
Secure the Pen: Confirm all doors and latches are secure against predators.
📊 Daily Record Keeping (Non-Negotiable)
Update these records every single evening to track your business performance.
Mortality: Number of birds lost.
Feed/Water Intake: Total quantity consumed.
Production: Total egg count (for layers).
Health: Note any treatments, vaccinations, or unusual behaviors observed.
