LEAN CONCRETE POURING

We commenced casting of lean concrete to provide stable base layer in preparation for the installation of Ground Beams.

However, before we commenced the pouring of lean concrete, we have established the levels, carry out soil exchange to stabilize the weak soil. Laid DPM material to prevent ground water and dampness from rising up from the ground.

What is the scope of the foundation works?
Analysis the risk as against the methodology with respect to the structural design loads and soil bearing capacity. Carry out properly QS/QC at this stage of the building.

Construction of 4 Bedroom Luxury Duplex with a Penthouse

Today we moved from setting out to foundation excavation and preparation for cutting, bending and assembling of reinforcement for ground beams.

The foundation trenches were excavated to the required depth and dimensions in accordance with the structural design.

Every strong and standing house starts with a properly executed foundation after duly considering the groundwater conditions, soil bearing capacity, structural loads and the settlement requirements.

Today, the journey of 4 Bedroom Luxury Duplex with Penthouse officially begins in Calabar, Cross River State.

I travelled to Calabar to meet with our client, my project team and the local workforce from the community. After the necessary introductions, site discussions and confirmation of our project requirements, we commenced one of the most important activities before construction begins:

📐 SETTING OUT.
Setting out is where the building moves from the drawings to the actual site.
Using the approved architectural and structural drawings done by Jacohdiel Engineering and Construction, we established the building lines, dimensions, positions and reference points that would guide the excavation of the foundation trenches and every subsequent stage of construction.

And then came the real test…
RAIN. 🌧️
It started raining, but we did not stop.
I have limited time in Calabar, and more importantly, construction schedules don't always wait for perfect weather.
So my team and I stood in the rain and completed the setting out.
Because engineering is about leadership, coordination, decision-making and getting the job done correctly, even when there are challenging site conditions.
