The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Oredo Branch, successfully held its July 2026 Ordinary General Meeting (OGM) in an atmosphere marked by commitment, impact, and strong professional bonding.
Despite a heavy downpour, members demonstrated remarkable dedication by turning out in good numbers. The Branch Chairman, Engr. Chukudi Akpotowho, FNSE, called the meeting to order and expressed his sincere appreciation to all members for their presence and unwavering commitment.
He extended special gratitude to the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, FNSE, for honouring the branch’s inauguration. He also conveyed profound appreciation to His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, Executive Governor of Edo State, for his unprecedented support. Further acknowledgements were given to distinguished personalities, including General Cecil Esekhaigbe (Rtd.) and His Excellency, Sir Monday Onyeme, Deputy Governor of Delta State, among other dignitaries who contributed to making the inauguration a resounding success.
The Chairman particularly commended the Chairman of the Inauguration Committee, Engr. Emmanuel Ehidiamen Okoebor, for his exceptional leadership in successfully delivering the event while balancing demanding state responsibilities. He also appreciated the Executive Committee and members of the Oredo Branch for their sustained collaboration since the branch’s inception, expressing optimism for greater achievements ahead.
A major highlight of the meeting was a highly impactful technical lecture titled “Beyond Installation: Unlocking Business Opportunities in Nigeria’s Renewable Energy Sector,” delivered by Engr. Darlington Okoka. The presentation provided valuable insights and opened members’ eyes to emerging opportunities within the renewable energy space.
Among other key deliberations was the introduction of a proposed six-month strategic plan, which will be further refined and presented to the house for adoption.
