Mr. Adeshina Oyerinde of New Horizons Nigeria delivered a powerful session on Artificial Intelligence as the fast-rising force shaping the future of ICT. In his words, “AI is coming, and it is coming for everybody,” emphasizing the need for students to stay prepared and adaptable.

He defined innovation as the ability to think critically and create solutions to real-life problems, encouraging students to look within their environments and build impactful ideas.

He also revealed a major initiative to train at least 50,000 students virtually and physically while providing devices to support their learning journey.

As a highlight, he presented NACOS National with official course materials, reinforcing a shared commitment to empowering tech students across Nigeria.

Session with Mr. Timothy Ogunwemimo. Founder, Tech4Good Nigeria

Mr. Timothy Ogunwemimo led an engaging and interactive session that challenged students to think deeply about technology and their place in the future.

He posed thought-provoking questions such as:
“If every piece of technology was taken away, what is the first thing you realize you cannot do?”
and
“In ten years, will your dream job still be done by humans, and what impact can humans truly offer?”

He emphasized the importance of positioning oneself on both sides of AI as both a producer and a consumer while also stressing the need to stay grounded in core fundamentals and continuously improve.

He concluded with a powerful question:
“The idea you’ve conceived how large a problem can it solve?”

Address by the Dean, Prof. Uduak Umoh

The Dean, Faculty of Computing Uniuyo, Prof. Uduak Umoh, delivered a powerful and thought-provoking message on innovation and digital transformation.

She emphasized that innovation does not begin with resources, but with the decision to solve real-life problems. In her words, ideas alone are not enough—ex*****on is what truly makes the difference. She noted that while Nigeria is rich in talent, real impact comes from taking action and building solutions that create long-term value.

She urged students to refuse to be ordinary, to rise above mediocrity, and to take responsibility in how they use technology, reminding everyone that power without responsibility can be dangerous.

She concluded with a striking question: “When history speaks, will it mention your name?”
