Ilorin, Kwara State — Governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Femi Sanni Araba, has commiserated with the family, associates and community of Chief Joseph Tejumola Adeyemi, who passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the age of 76.

Araba described the death of the respected legal practitioner, community leader and progressive politician as a painful loss to his family, Iludun-Oro and the wider Kwara community.

The APC governorship aspirant said Chief Adeyemi’s years of service as Executive Chairman of Irepodun Local Government Area and former State Chairman of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) reflected his commitment to public service, community development and the ideals of progressive politics.

“Chief Tejumola and I go way back to our days in the Alliance for Democracy. I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand his commitment to the progressive cause and his unwavering belief in politics as an instrument for service and development.

“His contribution to the progressives’ family was invaluable. He was a man of conviction, integrity and forthrightness who remained committed to the principles he believed in. Beyond politics, he was a respected legal practitioner, community leader and elder whose counsel and presence commanded considerable respect.

“His death is therefore not only a loss to his immediate family and Iludun-Oro, but also to the progressive political family and Kwara State as a whole. We have lost a man whose life was defined by service, principle and concern for the advancement of his people.”

Araba particularly commended the late elder statesman’s contributions to human and community development, noting that his legacy of service, principled leadership and commitment to the progressive cause would continue to inspire generations.

He urged the family to take solace in the enduring impact of Chief Adeyemi’s life and the many people he influenced through his professional, political and community engagements.

Araba prayed God Almighty to grant Chief Adeyemi eternal rest and give his family, friends, associates and the people of Iludun-Oro the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Kwara 2027: Araba Urges Tinubu, APC NWC to Reconcile Party Stakeholders

… APC chieftain and governorship aspirant warns that unresolved disagreements could weaken party's electoral strength

A top chieftain and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Kwara State, Engr. Femi Sanni, popularly known as Araba, has appealed to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party's National Leader, to urgently intervene in the lingering disagreements among stakeholders in the Kwara APC ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Araba, in a statement issued on Wednesday, expressed concern over the prevailing political atmosphere within the state chapter, describing it as a situation that calls for sincere and decisive reconciliation to preserve the unity and electoral strength of the party. He noted that while the APC remains the dominant political force in Kwara State, unresolved differences among critical stakeholders could weaken the party if not addressed promptly.

According to the governorship aspirant, the time has come for the national leadership to facilitate a genuine reconciliation process that accommodates all interests and restores confidence across the party. He stressed the need for all stakeholders to embrace true and sincere reconciliation built on mutual respect, understanding, and a spirit of give-and-take. "No meaningful peace can endure where there are perceived winners and losers. Every committed party member deserves to feel valued," he said.

Araba further emphasised that unity has always been one of the APC's greatest strengths in Kwara, urging leaders and members to place the collective interest of the party above personal ambitions. "We are stronger together. APC remains the party to beat in Kwara State, but no individual or bloc should be taken for granted. Every stakeholder has a role to play in sustaining the party's success and preparing it for victory in 2027," he added.

He expressed confidence that with timely intervention by the party's national leadership, the APC would emerge more united, stronger, and better positioned to retain Kwara State in the next governorship election. Araba's call for reconciliation comes as political activities begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with various stakeholders positioning themselves for key roles in the state. The APC currently holds the governorship seat in Kwara, and the party is keen to maintain its hold on the state.

Araba preaches APC unity, says Wike’s endorsement signals 2027 advantage

Kwara State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Engr. Femi Sanni has described the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the Dederal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike as further proof of the President’s growing national acceptance and the APC’s political dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Araba, as fondly called by his admirers, on Friday, said: “Wike’s support, despite his standing in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reflects growing confidence across party lines in President Tinubu’s leadership and reform agenda.

“When a leading opposition figure publicly backs President Tinubu’s re-election, it confirms that the APC remains the party to beat,” he said.

Araba said the same political reality exists in Kwara State, where the APC, according to him, retains strong grassroots support, while the PDP and other opposition parties lack the capacity to pose a serious electoral challenge Inspite of the unwarranted and unfortunate situation we find ourselves currently in the party in the state.

He urged all aspirants including himself and other party stakeholders with genuine concerns about the current situation in the Kwara APC to remain resolute and confident in the President Tinubu and the party’s National Working Committee (NWC’s) “capacity and political will to resolve outstanding issues, restore unity and position the party for a stronger outing in the 2027 elections.”

Araba cautioned media aides and supporters of individuals especially the one believed to be favored now for the party’s governorship ticket against inflammatory rhetoric capable of deepening divisions.

“There is no need for statements that alienate members of the APC family further. Our differences should be addressed with maturity and not in ways that hand political advantage to the opposition,” he added.

Nigeria should build on Trump’s praise with stronger security reforms, says Femi Sanni

Femi Sanni, an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Kwara state, has asked the federal government to deepen security reforms following President Donald Trump’s commendation of President Bola Tinubu’s efforts against terrorism.

On Wednesday, Trump commended Tinubu’s counterterrorism efforts. Bayo Onanuga, the presidential spokesperson, said in a statement that Trump’s commendation of Tinubu was contained in a letter dated July 6 and addressed to the Nigerian president.

Trump said he appreciated Tinubu’s “decisive leadership” and resolve to tackle the issues plaguing the nation, “especially the violence affecting Christian communities”.

“And it is a true honor to stand with you in the fight against terrorists and to make the Federal Republic of Nigeria stronger and more prosperous,” the letter reads.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Sanni said the recognition showed Nigeria’s evolving security architecture and should encourage stronger collaboration between the federal government, states and international partners.

He commended Tinubu’s leadership and the expansion of defence cooperation with the US but argued that constitutional reforms are needed to strengthen subnational security structures.

Sanni reiterated his call for the establishment of state police, adding that empowering state governments would complement federal security efforts and improve intelligence gathering and community policing.

“The fight against insecurity requires stronger subnational institutions, improved intelligence gathering, community-based policing and closer collaboration among all tiers of government,” Sanni said.

The APC chieftain said his advocacy for state police and stronger subnational governance is based on the belief that security is more effective when it is driven closer to local communities.

He urged Nigerians to support the Tinubu administration's reforms, while calling for sustained institutional reforms and deeper cooperation between the federal and state governments to tackle terrorism and improve national security.

A chieftain and governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Engineer Femi Sanni (Araba), has described United States President Donald Trump’s commendation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts against terrorism as a strong endorsement of Nigeria’s evolving security reforms.

In a statement on Thursday, Sanni said the recognition should spur Nigeria to deepen security reforms through stronger collaboration between the Federal Government, states and international partners.

While commending President Tinubu’s leadership and expanding defence cooperation with the United States, Sanni stressed the need for constitutional reforms that would empower subnational governments, including the establishment of state police, to complement federal security efforts.

“The fight against insecurity requires stronger subnational institutions, improved intelligence gathering, community-based policing and closer collaboration among all tiers of government,” he said.

Sanni noted that his long-standing advocacy for state police and stronger subnational governance is rooted in the belief that security is most effective when it is closer to the people, adding that empowering states would enhance both internal security and socio-economic development.

He urged Nigerians to support the Tinubu administration’s security initiatives while calling for sustained reforms, stronger institutions and deeper federal-state cooperation to defeat terrorism, protect lives and promote lasting peace and national development.
