These are some important legal documents you should look out for whenever you are embarking on purchase of land and landed property:
✓ deed of conveyance or deed of assignment : it's a legal document that transfers ownership of land from the seller to the buyer and it also proves that you are the owner

✓ Survey plan: this shows the location and size also letting you know the four coordinates of a particular plot that has been assigned to you.

✓ Allocation of letter: If you're buying a property from real estate firm, they have to give you allocation letter to a specific plot that is assigned to you.

✓ Certificate of occupancy also known as C of O: This is a very important document you should look out for when buying a land this document is issued by the government and also proves that the land is allocated to you and recognised. This prevent future dispute and this document is signed by the governor.

✓ Receipt or you can call it contract of payment: this proves that you actually made a payment for a property and without this you can not prove that you made a payment. It also important for a legal tender:
