TEN THINGS YOU SHOULD DO BEFORE RENTING AN APARTMENT.

1. Visit the apartment yourself.

2. Whatever needs to be fixed has to be fixed before making payments.

3. Make sure you are provided with a tenancy agreement before payment.

4. Don't assume anything and make sure all agreements are contained in the tenancy agreement.

5. If you can, make sure you reach out to the real owner of the property, don't just deal with the agent.

6. If you can, try to know why the last tenants left and if possible, have a conversation with other tenants where there are tenants.

7. Read the tenancy agreement carefully and question any clause you don't feel comfortable with. Possibly get a lawyer to review for you.

8. Don't be scared to lose a good house when the terms are not right.

9. A house is supposed to be a place of comfort, not a manageable space.

10. Check for the availability of network because some houses do not have network.
