We are proud to announce the successful completion of our 6 weeks Mini-Grid Design (MGD) Training Programme, delivered by Rubitec Academy, the training arm of Rubitec Nigeria Limited.
With a strong track record in renewable energy deployment and capacity development, Rubitec continues to play a leading role in advancing decentralized energy solutions across Nigeria. This programme reflects our commitment to building local capacity and strengthening the renewable energy ecosystem.
The training, which commenced on March 16, 2026, brought together participants from engineering, physics, and entrepreneurial backgrounds, all driven by a shared goal of delivering sustainable energy solutions.
As part of the training, participants embarked on a field visit to the Gbamu-Gbamu Mini-Grid site in Ijebu East LCDA, Ogun State, providing hands-on exposure to a live mini-grid system and real-world operational challenges. This further highlights Rubitec’s practical experience in deploying and managing mini-grid projects in underserved communities.
The programme concluded with the COREN competency examination on Friday, April 24, 2026, conducted by representatives of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria. Successful participants will be certified as Renewable Energy Experts in the domain of Mini-Grid Design.

We are proud to share the progress of our ongoing Mini-Grid Design Training, which commenced on 16th March 2026.

Over the past 19 training days, we have engaged a vibrant cohort of 13 participants drawn from Engineering, Entrepreneurship, and Physics backgrounds. The training has been intensive, hands on, and structured to build real technical and commercial capacity in mini-grid design and development.

This programme is aligned with the broader clean energy capacity development framework championed by the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP), implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Power.

These initiatives are designed to strengthen Nigeria’s renewable energy ecosystem by equipping professionals with the technical, regulatory, and business knowledge required to develop sustainable mini-grid projects.
Furthermore, the training aligns with the National Clean Energy Skills Certification Scheme overseen by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), which serves as the national certification body for clean energy skills in Nigeria.

This scheme aims to build a pool of locally trained and certified professionals capable of supporting the country’s growing renewable energy market, particularly in areas such as mini-grid design with focus on solar PV, Micro Hydro, Biomass and Wind Energy systems.

We have been privileged to host an exceptional lineup of facilitators who have brought both academic depth and industry experience to the programme, including Engineer Oluwapelumi Gold, Engr Ernest Nwaokike, Dr. Manasseh Sh*tta, Prof. Olayinka, Prof. Ayo Ogunjuyigbe, and Timothy Ajayi.

What truly stands out is the commitment and enthusiasm of the participants. Despite the demanding nature of the programme, they have remained highly engaged, demonstrating strong dedication to mastering the concepts of mini-grid design, system sizing, deployment, and long-term sustainability.

The response so far has been very encouraging, with over 115 registrations received. This level of interest reflects the increasing demand for practical and industry-aligned skills in hybrid mini-grid systems, Commercial & Industrial (C&I) power solutions, and solar EPC project delivery.

This training is carefully structured to deliver real value to technicians, engineers, and entrepreneurs. Participants will gain hands-on technical knowledge, practical design experience, and a stronger understanding of project implementation and management. Beyond technical competence, the programme also strengthens participants’ ability to identify opportunities, improve service quality, and position themselves competitively within the renewable energy market.

The 2nd edition of the POLARSTORE Training Program, an initiative of the RenewableTechNigeria (RTN) consortium, was successfully conducted from Monday, 6th October to Friday, 10th October 2025, at the Lagos Electricity Board Premises, Ikeja, G.R.A Lagos.

The 5-day technical program focused on building capacity in solar-hybrid cold storage systems. POLARSTORE a sustainable solution for Nigeria’s agricultural & pharmaceutical cold chain. The training combined theory, lab demos & hands-on sessions led by top experts from Nigeria & the Netherlands.

Participants gained practical knowledge in:

PV & battery systems
Refrigeration & control interfaces
Energy management & fault diagnosis
System integration & commissioning.

All modules were co-developed by HAN University (NL) & Rubitec Nigeria Ltd.

Partners included Larive International, Commercium Africa, Dawson Group, Independent Energy, Sosai Renewable Energies, SEECE & Rubitec — working together to train local engineers & create master trainers for future editions.

The Second Edition of Renewable Energy POLARSTORE Cold Storage Training Kicks Off in Lagos in October 2025!
The RenewableTechNigeria POLARSTORE Cold Storage Training is scheduled for 6-10 October 2025 at the Lagos Energy Academy, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.
This five-day intensive training program is designed for engineers, technicians, and energy professionals interested in renewable energy-powered and cold storage systems-especially for applications in agriculture, healthcare, and logistics.
The training is organized in partnership with Nigerian renewable energy companies and Dutch organizations, with co-funding from the Dutch Government, and will be delivered in collaboration with Rubitec Nigeria Limited, a COREN-certified training provider.
Participants will gain hands-on experience through practical sessions and a curriculum developed with Dutch experts, including HAN University of Applied Sciences, Independent Energy, The Dawson Group, and Larive International. Topics include solar PV fundamentals, battery systems, cold storage operations, power electronics, and full system integration of the POLARSTORE solution.
The program will also feature real-world design simulations, system diagnostics, and maintenance protocols, equipping participants with the knowledge to deploy sustainable cold storage solutions across Nigeria.

THE POLARSTORE TRAINING: A MILESTONE IN SOLAR-HYBRID COLD STORAGE.

A few weeks ago, the POLARSTORE Training, an initiative under the RenewableTechNigeria program, was successfully completed at the Lagos Energy Academy. This five-day technical training brought together engineers and industry experts to explore solar-hybrid cold storage solutions and their role in advancing Nigeria’s renewable energy sector.

Organized by Rubitec Academy a certified renewable energy training institute in partnership with Dutch energy innovators such as Independent Energy, The Dawson Group, HANS university, Larive International and co-funded by the Dutch government, the training aimed to enhance technical capacity in renewable energy-powered cooling technologies.

The program welcomed 20 participants from different regions across Nigeria, equipping them with hands-on expertise in:

Photovoltaic (PV) Systems & Power Electronics

Battery Storage & Energy Management

Refrigeration Cycle & Cold Storage Operations

System Interface, Control & Troubleshooting.

A key highlight of the training was the demonstration of the PolarStore Cold Storage System, a solar-hybrid solution designed to replace traditional diesel-powered refrigeration. The training sessions provided in-depth technical insights into its energy efficiency, sustainability, and operational benefits.

The sessions were led by distinguished industry professionals, including:
