⚠️ Did you know the pH level of your soap can affect your skin, cleaning power, and even the quality of your product?

Let’s explain pH in a very simple way.

What is pH?

pH simply means the level of acidity or alkalinity in a product.

The pH scale starts from 0 to 14.

• pH 0–6 = Acidic • pH 7 = Neutral • pH 8–14 = Alkaline

Most liquid soaps are slightly alkaline because that helps them remove grease and dirt effectively.

For example: Dishwashing liquid can stay around pH 7–9. But Car wash soap is usually mildly alkaline.

If the pH is TOO HIGH:
The soap may become harsh on the skin.
It may irritate the hands.
It can damage surfaces gradually.

If the pH is TOO LOW:
The soap may lose cleaning strength.
Foam may reduce.
The product may spoil faster.

How to Check the pH of Your Soap

The easiest method is using pH paper or a pH meter.

Steps:

1. Put small soap inside a cup.

2. Dip the pH paper inside.

3. Wait for the color change.

4. Compare the color with the pH chart.

How to Reduce High pH in Soap

If your soap is too alkaline (too high):

You can carefully reduce it little by little using:

Citric acid solution
Vinegar (small quantity)
Lemon solution (for mild adjustment)

IMPORTANT: Always add gradually and stir very well.

After adding small quantity:
Test again.
Do not rush.
Too much acid can spoil the soap.

How to Increase Low pH in Soap

If the pH is too low and the soap becomes too acidic:

You can carefully raise it using:

Small amount of soda ash solution
Small quantity of caustic soda solution (only if you understand proper handling)

Again: Add little by little. Stir properly. Test after every adjustment.
