Dummy Valve is a wireline retrievable plug type device installed in side pocket mandrel SPM in place of a Gas Lift Valve GLV. It does not inject gas unlike the GLV, rather it blocks communication between the casing and tubing at the mandrel position. it is deployed when; GLV is not required at a certain depth, a well is temporarily shut off from gas injection, a valve is removed during intervention.

Function & Roles
1. Sealing the Mandrel Port: Prevent gas flow between casing and tubing
2. Maintain Well Integrity: Ensure pressure containment in the well.
3. System Isolation: Allows operators to isolate specific gas lift injection points.
4. Operability Flexibility: Enables selective activation of GLV.
5. Operational Uses: During Well Testing, when converting wells between artificial lift methods, during gas lift optimization programs, while troubleshooting malfunctioning GLV.

Design Specifications
1. Key Components: Valve Body, Locking Mechanism, Seal Assembly (O-ring or metal-to-metal), Fishing Neck & Equalizing Port (Optional).
2. Technical Specifications: WLR, 10000psi-15000psi pressure rating, 300degF-400degF temperature rating.
3. Material: Stainless Steel
4. Seal Type: Elastomer or metal-to-metal
5. Compatibility: Suitable for SPM size 1.5", 1.875", 2.313"

A Wireline Retrievable Injection Pressure Operated Gaslift Valve (WLR IPO GLV) is a downhole gas-lift valve installed in a side pocket mandrel within the tubing string. it can be retrieved or installed using wireline without pulling the tubing, operates by opening and closing in response to injection gas pressure in the casing and acts against pre-charge dome pressure inside the valve.
it's main job is to inject high pressure gas into the production tubing, helping to reduce hydrostatic head and allowing oil or fluid to flow to the surface more efficiently.

Function & Roles
1. Gas Injection Control: Regulate the flow of injected gas from the casing into the tubing.
2. Pressure-Responsive Operation: The valve opens when the casing injection pressure surpasses the valve's dome pressure plus the tubing pressure effect.
3. Well Unloading: It helps unload fluids during well start-up or after a shut-in.
4. Continuous Gas Lift Operation: It ensure stable and control gas injection during steady-state production.
5. Operational Role in the Well: Reduce flowing bottom hole pressure, enhance production from low pressure reservoir, enable lifting of heavy crude or wells with high water cut and supports both intermittent and continuous gas lift systems.

Design Specification
1. Major components: Valve body, Bellow or dome chamber, stem and seat, check valve, or***ce, locking mechanism for side pocket mandrel and ports for gas entry.
2. Technical Specification: IPO, WLR, up to 15000' operating dept, 250degF - 400degF temp. rating, up to 10000psi pressure rating, 1/8"-1/2" port sizes, manufactured in stainless steel or inconel for sour service, elastomer compatible with H2S/CO2 and dome charge with nitrogen or inert gas.
3. Operating Principle: Opens when Casing pressure ≥ dome pressure + Tubing pressure effect and closes when casing pressure drops below this threshold.

Applications
1. Oilfield Operations: Matured oil wells with declining reservoir pressure, offshore and onshore production wells, deep wells requiring artificial lift, high-water cut wells, deviated and horizontal wells.
