šŸŒ Feltest is now in Southern Africa.

We're proud to welcome Rogortec (Pty) Ltd as our newest distributor partner. Established in 1995, with over 30 years serving the pulp and paper industry on one philosophy: "Added Value Through Consistency."

That's exactly what felt measurement is about. Not a one-time fix, but a consistent practice that builds better baselines, better decisions, and better performance over time.

Local support comes from Neville Philps, whose expertise means mills in the region get help when they need it.

šŸŒ Big news for mills in China.

Feltest has a new distributor partner: Diamond Ground Industry Technology (Shandong) Ltd (DGIT).

Founded in 2024 with one mission: technology and value through service, built for pulp and paper.

At the helm is Allan Cao. 20 years in the industry. A papermaking degree from Shaanxi University of Science and Technology. A career across Lee&Man, Kandas International, and now DGIT.
That's the kind of local expertise your mill deserves on its side.

When was the last time your mill independently (!) measured how the press felts were performing?

Not a supplier report. Your own data, from your own team. Chances are, it has been a long time. If ever.

I know, this is how the industry has worked. Suppliers deliver the felt, suppliers evaluate the felt. But there's an inherent tension in that arrangement that doesn't serve the mill.

Felt suppliers are knowledgeable and valuable partners. Most of them genuinely want to improve. But they also must make a living, sell you felts. And when the mill is satisfied, the supplier can sell.

If you want to keep everything as it is, you're going to get what you got. The papermaker sets the ambition level for the supplier.

If you want to keep everything as it is, your supplier will give you service reports that emphasize what's stable. However, if you raise the bar and challenge your suppliers to improve, things will start moving forward.

But how to get and keep this positive, improvement-minded spirit, without risking today's machine performance?

That is where the Feltest Method comes in. In short:
1. The mill collects daily felt data and makes press felt baselines.
2. Based on the baselines, the mill sets measurable development targets for its suppliers.
3. The suppliers gradually change their felts to meet your targets. Small steps, low risk, but steadily moving forward.

It all starts with the mill measuring 2 or 3 felt-datapoints per day, for which Feltest can supply you the instruments. Because independent measurement isn't a nice-to-have. It's what professional felt management looks like.

It's what brings your mill forward.

How open should your press felts really be? Permeability matters more than you might think. Get the data and insights you need to make informed decisions about your press felts and improve your paper machine’s performance.

Download our whitepaper and start pressing forward with confidence.

This whitepaper gives background information on felt permeability and describes hands-on tools to determine and optimize the permeability of felts which are running in the machine.

Ever wonder what really happens inside the press section of your paper machine? In this episode of Press Felts, we dive into the science of dewatering, the hidden role of felt conditioning, and why consistent measurement matters more than ever.

Whether you're a papermaker optimizing your output or a supplier wanting to understand your customer better, this short video is your go-to guide. Because better insights = better felts = better paper. Watch the video below and see how the right tools turn data into confidence.

We asked. You answered.

67% of you said felts that clog or compact too quickly is the #1 frustration and it's not hard to see why.

When a felt compacts, permeability drops. When permeability drops, water removal suffers. Steam consumption rises, daily output falls and the machine starts quietly working against you.

The challenge is that this rarely triggers an alarm. It's a slow drift, not a sudden break. Which means it often goes unnoticed until the damage is done.

That's exactly the problem Feltest tools are built to solve. Daily permeability and caliper measurements give your team the early visibility to act before a drifting felt becomes a production loss.

Thank you to everyone who voted your input reflects what we hear from mills every day.

Vacuum data in 30 seconds? That’s real.

To be Frank, there’s nothing quite like RealVac. In under half a minute, you’ll know exactly what your Uhle boxes are doing—because guessing is not a strategy.

šŸ“‰ By-pass defective manometers
šŸ” Troubleshoot on the spot
šŸ“ˆ Maximize felt dewatering efficiency

With the RealVac, papermakers can finally measure vacuum where it really matters: inside the suction box. No permanent installation, no complicated setup -- just clear, reliable data you can act on immediately.

It’s the handheld game-changer you didn’t know you needed.

As a mill manager, you're under constant pressure to hit production targets, reduce costs, and minimize downtime — all while working with the same machines and the same team. What if your next big gain didn’t require any capital investment?

Feltest surveyed mill leaders like you, and the results revealed where performance is being quietly lost:
šŸ”¹ 85% don’t monitor press felt performance daily
šŸ”¹ 40% fail to reach their own felt-related goals
šŸ”¹ 94% underestimate felt design complexity — by a factor of millions
These gaps aren’t signs of failure. They’re signs of untapped potential.

With small, structured steps — like measuring felt performance daily — mills are seeing:
• Increased machine speed
• Fewer sheet breaks
• Lower energy use in the dryer section
• Results within 12 months — without touching your CAPEX

See how you can guide your team to better results without asking for a bigger budget. Swipe to read more!

June is wrapping up and before the next shift starts, we want to hear from you.

What's one thing you measured, discovered, or improved at your mill this month?

Maybe you caught a permeability drop before it caused a problem. Maybe a felt ran longer than expected and you know exactly why. Maybe you finally built that baseline your team has been meaning to start.

Big or small, it all counts.

Drop it in the comments šŸ‘‡ and tag a colleague who deserves a shoutout for the work they're putting in.

We're 600+ mills strong across 90+ countries. The knowledge in this community is worth sharing.
