🍄 Celebrating Two Days of Discovery, Foraging & Mycology! 🌿🔬
We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the 2-Day Mushroom Foraging & Learning Experience, held on 16 & 17 August 2026 in the beautiful surroundings of Chitlang and Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology (MBUST).

Organized by the Mushroom Laboratory, MBUST and Mushrooms of Nepal, with the support of Chitlang Village Resort, the immersive experience brought together nature enthusiasts, students, researchers, and mushroom lovers for two memorable days of exploration, learning, and discovery.

🌲 From the forests to the laboratory, participants experienced:

🔎 Mushroom identification and collection
🧫 Hands-on tissue culture demonstrations

🍄 Strengthening Research Collaboration Through Knowledge Exchange

Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology (MBUST) had the pleasure of welcoming a distinguished team of senior officials from the Center for Industrial Entomology Development (CIED), Department of Agriculture, Hariharbhawan, and the National Plant Pathology Research Center (NPPRC), Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC), Khumaltar.

The delegation was led by Dr. Sabitri Baral, Chief of CIED, and included:
• Mr. Yam Kumar Shrestha, Senior Plant Protection Officer, CIED
• Mrs. Samikshya Gautam, Plant Protection Officer, CIED
• Ms. Khushubu Rai, Plant Protection Officer, CIED
• Mr. Basistha Acharya, Chief, Mushroom Research Unit, NPPRC

The visiting team was also joined by Mr. Santosh Karki, Chairman of the Mushroom Producers' Association Nepal (MPAN).

During the visit, the delegation observed MBUST's ongoing research activities and interacted with faculty members, researchers, and students. A highlight of the visit was a mushroom foraging expedition alongside MBUST students, providing an excellent opportunity for experiential learning, knowledge exchange, and discussions on Nepal's rich fungal biodiversity, mushroom research, conservation, and sustainable utilization.

MBUST sincerely appreciates the visit and looks forward to fostering stronger collaboration with national research institutions and industry partners to advance scientific research, innovation, and capacity building in agriculture, plant protection, and mushroom science.
