Newa Art ceramics was established in April 1998 in response to
the growing demand of Nepali handmade ceramic products and
make them popular in the National and International market. The Newari community, amounting
to about 5.6% (i.e. 600.000) of the total Nepali population can be
viewed as those people who have the potential to prove that they
are the richest people in terms of ancient Art and Arc
hitecture
dating back to the 11th century. Perhaps this is why the "Lonely
Planet" guide on Nepal has described Kathmandu Valley as one
enormous art gallery and museum. Throughout the Nepalese
history, pottery has been a source of income generation and
expression of artistic creativity of the Newari cultural and the
Nepali people as a whole Newa Art Ceramics aims at reviving the
traditional Newari Art through its use in Nepali ceramics by
combining traditional techniques and design with modern glazed
