A new face for Middlemore Hospital Scott Building!

Originally completed in 2006, the building underwent a recladding upgrade while remaining fully operational.

The transformation features a modern, durable rainscreen system, providing a more resilient and weather-tight facade.

Throwback to 2020 – a collaboration with Woods Glass and Thermosash on this dynamic office extension facade. Insite Facades provided the rainscreen solution and sunshade louvres, working alongside Woods Glass’ Delta and Omega windows, auto glass sliders, and balustrades. Proud to look back on a job well done!

Sumich Architects drew up a custom-shaped Parallelogram Motorised Louvre, 700mm wide, with concealed motors recessed flush with the soffit. To match their vision, we developed a new die and connected triangular outer shapes to an existing centre part.

With the large size blade and a windy cliff-top location, achieving the right pivots and actuators to handle the conditions was challenging.

The installation was complex due to the tight motor box recesses, positioned between the louvre and the window, which required access inside the louvres.

Despite these hurdles, the louvres operate smoothly and look fantastic!

NDHB Te Kotuku Maternity Building – Soffit Artwork
Location: Whangarei, New Zealand

Blending art and functionality, our recent small-scale project showcases whetū artwork, enriching the space and creating a captivating visual impact at the east entrance of the Te Kotuku Maternity Building.

Insite Facades utilised a state-of-the-art CNC Router to machine the 10mm-thick Fundermax HPL panel rebates with precision.

The design was inspired by the Matariki cluster of stars, known as the mother of eight stars. When it shines brightly and prominently in the sky, it symbolises health and wellbeing. Matariki celebrates new beginnings, aligning with the purpose of the Te Kotuku Maternity Building.
