Delivering lighting control for one of Dunedin’s most advanced healthcare projects.

Matrix Automation Ltd was engaged on the new Dunedin Hospital Outpatient Building to deliver a zencontrol DALI-2 lighting control system for Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora - Southern across this state-of-the-art facility.

Working from the project design developed by Beca, Matrix supplied the control hardware for field installation by Aotea Electric Southern, as well as equipment for integration into multiple distributed switchboard cabinets. From there, our role extended through system programming, integration, and commissioning to achieve the required performance across a wide range of healthcare spaces.

From highly serviced clinical environments through to staff and public areas, the system provides precise, fixture-level control with intelligent zoning, occupancy integration, daylight harvesting, and centralised management.

In addition to lighting control, Matrix delivered integration components in collaboration with NTT DATA, enabling seamless interaction between our system and the AV installation. This allowed the AV contractor to adopt and interface with our control platform, contributing to a more unified and coordinated building technology solution.

Projects of this scale demand a high level of coordination, consistency, and technical delivery — and this one reflects Matrix’s ability to execute complex, integrated systems across large, technology-driven developments.

A big acknowledgement to our team, who delivered this project to a high standard while continuing to perform across multiple projects in parallel. This result is a direct reflection of their capability and commitment.

Matrix Automation Ltd is proud to have delivered advanced lighting control solutions for the new Otago Regional Council facility.

This project required a scalable, energy-efficient lighting platform designed to meet the operational demands of a modern civic building.

Matrix Automation Ltd was commissioned to implement a fully addressable zencontrol DALI-2 lighting control system throughout the facility, providing:

• Intelligent lighting automation
• Zoned control across office and public areas
• Energy monitoring and optimisation
• Occupancy and daylight harvesting integration
• Centralised management capability

The DALI-2 platform ensures precise fixture-level control, improved energy performance, and long-term flexibility for future expansion.

Designed to support a high-performance working environment, the system enhances occupant comfort while delivering measurable efficiency outcomes.

The Oaks Queenstown Shores Resort has completed a significant $160 million renovation and refurbishment project. Matrix Automation Ltd was commissioned to provide comprehensive technical wiring services for 161 apartments, public lounges, bar, reception, spa, gym, and conference facilities.
The project's scope included hotel management systems for all areas, featuring front-of-house control of underfloor heating, undertile heating, gas fires, heat pumps, heated towel rails, and lighting control integrated with check-in/check-out functionality. As well as maintain energy management.
A bespoke building management system was developed using a hybrid Control4 and Clipsal C-Bus integration. Additionally, Cambium Networks was installed throughout as the backbone network infrastructure to support our systems, guest Wi-Fi, Chromecast, and TV connectivity, alongside a 200+ IP phone system implementation.
We appreciate the collaboration with Tansley Electrical and Sweep internet, which enabled seamless operation of our systems.

Arvida Retirement Queenstown Country Club. Today, we successfully completed a project initiated by Team cabling southern nearly four years ago. My team demonstrated exceptional proficiency in implementing the zencontrol Dali2 lighting control system throughout this cutting-edge facility. We utilized a combination of occupancy and vacancy detection to ensure seamless transitions between areas, eliminating dark spaces through innovative corridor linking. Predetermined light levels ensured safety and comfort, while wall controllers offered a user-friendly means to customize lighting moods and promote wellness. Additionally, we utilized a dashboard where the property manager can view and alter the system's performance and have a live means to assist with maintenance.
