This week The Real Strim Shady (a.k.a scrub bar #4 donated by Friends of Waiuta) had a spa day (a.k.a service) in time for our next working bee on Saturday.

The Terra Firma Mining Ltd and Reefton Engineering team have been supporting our client Rua Gold - Reefton Operations with some important mine design and layout work this week near Reefton.

The team has been tasked with translating the PEA mine design work into a preliminary portal and infrastructure layout which will be used for stakeholder and regulator consultation as part of the mining permit application.

The Reefton team hosted a delegation of 25 people from Rua Gold - Reefton Operations, West Coast Regional Council, Buller District Council, Grey District Council and NZ Civil Defence today at the Reefton Engineering workshop to review some of Terra Firma’s mining equipment and capability as part of a workshop on the Auld Creek project. Alex Mayhead and Ryan Fleming were on hand to brief the group and answer questions on our capabilities and range of mining equipment.

Some of the Terra Firma team were in Christchurch this week attending the Rua Gold - Reefton Operations advisor workshop, which was to bring together all the consultant partners working on the Auld Creek Fast track and PFS work programs.

Our MD Lincoln Smith, supported by Alex Mayhead and Rachel Roberts, provided an overview of the planned approach to mining operations, talked through equipment options, human resource needs and permitting needs for mining access and lay downs. TFM is also assisting Rua with geotechnical investigations with Alex and Max Roberts from our West Coast team coordinating field investigations for PFS study consultants.

We are seeking experienced miners and underground supervisors to join our team. Successful candidates will have a safe work ethic, be keen to work in our high-performing team and enjoy varied and challenging work.

Applicants for all positions must have NZ residency or hold a valid NZ work visa, be physically fit and hold a full NZ driver licence. Successful applicants for supervisor roles must hold B-grade Metalliferous Mine Manager Certificate of Competence.

Preference may be given to applicants who have:
· Certificates of Competence (B Grade, A Grade Manager etc)
· Airleg / hand-held mining experience
· Jumbo experience
· Underground mining / maintenance experience
· Excavator and/or Heavy machinery experience
· Trade certificate

Positions will be based in the Waihi area. We also invite expressions of interest for mining positions based on the West Coast.

Reefton Engineering and Terra Firma Mining Ltd are proud to support the Reefton Trail Collective and the awesome work they do for our community.

We look forward to servicing the Strim Reaper, Lemony Snippet and the Gorse Whisperer (their three new brushcutters) and keeping them running strong for the team!

Thanks to the generosity of our amazing local businesses, we’re stoked to have this key equipment for our tracks and trails. You might remember we already gave a shoutout to Rua Gold - Reefton Operations earlier on for our first brushcutter (still legends 🙌), and now it’s time to spread the love a bit further.

Over the weekend, representatives from Terra Firma attended a community meeting in Blackball with other representatives of the West Coast mining community. MD Lincoln Smith then attended an Auld Creek project briefing to government ministers with the RUA Gold team.

There is currently significant growth in mining opportunities on the West Coast and Terra Firma is looking forward to being part of it.
