A farewell and a couple of new faces!

Recently, the team got together to say goodbye to Josh and welcome Chris and Hunter to Think Solar. ☀️

We kicked things off at the driving range before heading to Evie’s for some well-earned pizza. ⛳

A big thank you to Josh for everything he’s brought to the team, we wish him all the best for what’s next!

And a big welcome to Chris and Hunter. It’s great to have you both on board, and we’re looking forward to having you as part of the Think Solar crew.

Good people, good pizza and some questionable golf not a bad way to send one off and welcome two more! ☀️

📍 Did you know we service more than just Timaru?

We're proud to help customers throughout the wider South Canterbury region and beyond with quality solar installations.

Here's one of our recent projects:
☀️ 18 × 460W SunPower panels paired with a PW3 battery system.

This installation wasn't an easy one! The roof was super steep and challenging, but by making the most of the available space, we delivered a great result and maximised the customer's solar generation.

Solar scheme announcement 📣

The latest discussion around National's proposed solar finance scheme highlights something we've believed for a long time: the biggest barrier for many households isn't whether solar is worthwhile, it's the upfront cost.

The more barriers are removed, the better the outcome for everyone. 🌞

While green loans are good, additional pathways to help with the initial investment mean more New Zealanders can enjoy lower power bills, greater energy independence, and a more resilient electricity system.

Renewable energy as a whole is finally taking center stage at the moment and accessible solar will play a key part in the future of this ongoing conversation.

📈 NZ Solar generation increased by 50% year-on-year in the March 2026 quarter, reaching a record 373 GWh.

🌿 94.5% of New Zealand's electricity came from renewable sources in the March 2026 quarter—the second consecutive quarter above 90%.

Our positive takeaway is that, across the political spectrum, the message is becoming clear: rooftop solar is a win for homeowners and a win for New Zealand's energy infrastructure.
