Big milestone this week! Our 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗼𝘆𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺, just north of Temuka, has sent its 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 to the local Alpine Energy network.
It's Lodestone's 𝗳𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺 and our very first in the South Island.
Once fully commissioned, the 27.7 MW farm will be capable of powering around 𝟲,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗯𝘂𝗿𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀.
In the South Island, solar generation complements the regions hydro. In dry years, when hydro lakes comes under pressure, adding solar to the mix, can help take some of the load off — an increasingly important part of the country's security of supply.
With 3,700 native plants around the boundary, the site will soon be home to a flock of sheep and will peacefully generate clean energy for the surrounding community for decades ahead.
A huge thank you to our construction partner Ethical Power and their key subcontractor New Energy, and to Alpine Energy for working alongside us to connect it all up.
That's over 200 MW of solar now delivered or under construction across the motu, and we're just getting started.
