It's official: CLV Construction has gone bush. And we've got (great) company - the man, the legend that is Liam from Platinum Plumbing Solutions.

This project is like no other we've completed. Our task is to build a brand-new shelter alongside the magnificent Whanganui River, remove the existing shelter, replace the stairs where required, and install plumbing, drainage and septic tanks for the new facilities.

Our commute is a jet boat, and our materials are being delivered by helicopter. Our views are pristine native forest; we've heard Kiwi and seen shooting stars. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity and we feel so privileged to be here to complete this mahi.

We're stoked that the first site is done - now it's onto the second site. A massive thank you/kia ora rawa atu to the contractors and suppliers supporting us, you are legends. And thanks to Liam for supplying some great snaps!

Holy smokes, what a year it's been! There's been big projects, small jobs, and everything in-between. There's been some lows, but there's been so many highs. And of course, there's been waves, post work beach walks, heaps of laughs, and all kinds of wholesome animal interactions that make our day.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us this year, especially to our wonderful clients, the awesome teams we work with to get the job done, and the people we see nearly every day. We wish you a happy, safe, and peaceful holiday season.

With long sunny days ahead, now is the perfect time to get any repairs done on your whare. We recently repaired a rotting fascia board and broken guttering for this beach house. It's always better to get onto it early before it gets worse! Next, we completed a floor patch and cladding repair (and met some very cute locals). We also assisted with a kitchen install - we pride ourselves on our customer service, so we also provided a temporary benchtop, and a mid-job snuggle 🐱. We then managed to squeak in a quick surf trip - how good!

They say variety is the spice of life...so it's fair to say it's been a spicy month for us! 🔥

First objective was to finish off Stage 2 of an earlier project. The extension for the kitchen and office is complete, a new roof installed, and the front door has been reframed. Now it's in the hands of our very lovely (and creative!) clients. Thanks again for having us, it's been a pleasure.

Then it was back to Matiu Somes to complete some finishing details on the shelter. We were THRILLED to see it's still looking very sharp (even after the recent wild weather we've had!)

Next, we reunited with one of our favourite work mates, Nick from Su Electrical for a small job installing a box for the mains switchboard. Sneak peak at the new uniform - more on that coming soon...

And the fun doesn't stop! We also completed a floor repair and installed timber veneer panels to create a feature wall in this Waikawa beach house. We were really happy with the end result - it looks modern, adds visual interest, and has excellent acoustic properties.

And finally, we've had a couple of days between being on the tools to complete site visits and quotes, including an awesome site visit to a very special and remote spot, and a great morning in the waves.

We have a couple of projects coming up that we are super excited about, including one very close to our hearts. Stay tuned! 🤙

Three words to sum up our latest project....

What. a. ride.

We are so lucky to have spent the past week on Matiu - Somes Island, building a shelter for the whare manuhiri/visitor biosecurity room.

It was a completely different type of project for us. First, we had to get our materials, tools and equipment through quarantine and sail across the harbour. No nipping down the road for a box of screws if you forgot them!

Next, we had to contend with the intense and changeable spring weather. Lifting heavy timber rafters and 120kg beams and installing light-as-air lazerlite roofing all becomes incredibly difficult in 40kmph winds, and a few "surprise waves" caught us off-guard more than once.

There were some awesome moments. Our morning commute was a bushwalk, and we could see (and hear!) where the kororā/little blue penguins came in every night. Kākāriki surprised us at our front door in the morning, and geckos kept us company in the bathroom. We even got a beautiful full-size rainbow after a brutal southerly ripped through.

We'll admit it, we're really proud of this mahi, and we hope that all visitors to this beautiful taonga enjoy it for years to come.

We have lots of people we would like to thank....

🦎Taranaki Whānui and the Department of Conservation. Thank you so much for having us. We'd especially like to thank the Matiu - Somes Island DOC Rangers - ngā mihi maioha, thank you for everything you did for us.
🦎 The team from Underwater Solutions Ltd - you are such legends. Thank you for being so helpful, and for getting us (and ALL of our stuff!) to and from the Island safely.
🦎 Corey from Mitre10 Mega in Petone - first class customer service in a testing moment. Too good.
🦎 The team from Carters Paraparaumu - thanks for being accommodating as our materials went through quarantine protocol, much appreciated.
🦎 Adam from DTCE Engineering - thanks for being flexible and accommodating, especially when the weather was not, and for bringing us a desperately needed box of screws.
🦎 Kapiti Hire - thanks for supplying all our scaffolding and temporary fencing, hope you enjoy how clean they are!

We're beginning to see how this new space is shaping up, and we're pleased with the results. Heaps lighter, more space, and those corners on the cladding look super sharp. We're on the home straight now!🤙

It's pretty common for us squeeze into tight or uncomfortable spaces...but what makes this situation unique is that this is the NEW ROOF 😬 We've been busy ripping out the kitchen, reframing for the new kitchen, and (literally) laying the iron. We've also had Nick from Su Electrical and Liam from Platinum Plumbing Solutions onsite - thanks for your always excellent mahi team. Up next - it's time to smash out the cladding! 🔨

Phew! It's been a busy couple of weeks! Progress on the extension is coming along nicely - we've been making the most of this great weather to demo, wrap and frame, and we have the kitchen in our sights. We've had a couple of site visits too which has been awesome - now is the time to start thinking about those summer projects ☀️ We are also super stoked to share that we have achieved Impac PREQUAL certification - a demonstration of our commitment to health and safety practices onsite. Those who PPE together, stay together 🤙 And finally - we attended the grand reveal of the kitchen renovation we assisted with earlier this year - a great Gatsby themed party! 🥳 It was delightful to see the space being enjoyed by friends and whanau - as you can see 😅

We are back! And getting stuck right into the second stage of this project. We even had some cake to celebrate 🥳 It was awesome to see the mahi we did last year looking slick thanks to a lick of paint, and to see puss still enjoying the windows. There are a few things to be done, but we're starting with the addition that will become a home office and a larger kitchen. We are so pumped to get this project done - we know how much this extra space will make a difference.

It's been a busy couple of weeks getting the mahi done, but now it's time for the next round of subbies to get involved. We'll be back soon to finish off installing the guttering and get the trim on. We're looking forward to seeing the result!
