Nothing beats the first brick job of spring. ☀️

Blue skies, sunshine, and a beautiful rural Waihi setting made this one a pleasure to be on.

We don’t often get the chance to lay bricks with this much character, and that’s exactly what makes projects like these so rewarding. Every brick adds its own personality, and it’s great to see it all coming together.

Meet Kingi, the latest addition to the Western Bay Bricklayers crew as a labourer.

A proud Tauranga local, Kingi has settled into site life quickly and has been getting stuck into a wide range of work across our projects. He’s picking things up quickly, backing in wherever needed, and bringing good energy to the team.

When he’s not on the tools, you’ll usually find him at the gym or training and staying active.

Bringing new life to old brickwork. 🧱

This renovation was all about preserving the character of the original home while building for the future. We carried out extensive remedial brickwork, constructed the new block foundations, and completed the brickwork for the extension—carefully blending the old with the new.

Proud to have been part of this 2026 Gold award-winning renovation for RMBA House of the Year alongside Keam Construction, where quality craftsmanship made all the difference.

Meet the crew behind Western Bay Bricklayers 🧱👷‍♂️

We’re a local Bay of Plenty team that genuinely loves what we do. From foundations and retaining walls to brickwork on family homes and commercial projects, we take pride in doing things properly – quality workmanship, good communication, and showing up when we say we will.

We’re big believers that the little things matter. Clean, tidy work. Attention to detail. Looking after our clients. And having a few laughs along the way.

At the end of the day, we’re here to build work we’re proud to put our name to.

A bit of one-on-one teaching before our apprentice, Nathan heads off to block course next week.

There’s no substitute for learning alongside experienced tradesmen on site, building skills through hands-on experience and guidance.

We’re always learning, always improving, and always passing on our knowledge to the next generation of bricklayers. 💪🧱
