Have you ever wondered what happens to the plastic you put out for kerbside collection?

This video shows the journey of post-consumer plastic waste — collected from your front door, sorted locally, processed in Christchurch, and transformed into a usable recycled material.

At Pack Tech Moulding, we use this recycled polymer to manufacture products like these vine clips, helping keep plastic in circulation and out of landfill.

What’s happening globally doesn’t stay global — it shapes how we deliver here at home.

Last week, Chris and Alister headed to ChinaPlas to get a firsthand look at where the plastics and packaging industry is heading. No slideshows or second-hand summaries — just real conversations, real technology, and real insight from the factory floor.

From smarter automation to evolving material solutions, the focus was on what’s practical, what’s proven, and what’s worth bringing back to improve how we operate and support our customers.

Just as important was time spent with suppliers — strengthening existing relationships and opening the door to new ones that will help us stay agile in a fast-moving market.

A few big days, a lot of ground covered, and plenty to bring back and build on.

With Easter fast approaching, our plant will be closed over the long weekend. We’d like to take this opportunity to remind our customers to review their product requirements for early April, as lead times may be slightly longer than usual.

If you require product between 1 April and 8 April, we recommend submitting your purchase orders now so we can process and schedule dispatch to meet your timelines.

Please also note that with many plants closing over this period, freight volumes following Easter are expected to increase, which may result in extended transit times.

Planning ahead will help ensure continuity of supply during this busy period.
