🚗Before the road trip starts, make sure the little ones are sorted. 👶🏽
Infant car seats can be a bit of a head-scratcher, especially when there seem to be a million straps and buckles.
🧡For babies and toddlers, rear-facing is safest, so keep them that way for as long as practicable.
A couple of quick checks:
✅Check the seat: Once installed, it shouldn’t move more than 2.5cm in any direction.
✅Check the harness: It should sit firmly against your child. If you can pinch the harness strap between your fingers, it’s too loose.
✅Remember, children under seven must be in an approved child restraint that’s right for their age and size.
Once everyone’s strapped in, g.a.s. is here for the stops along the way.⛽

⛽Spilt a bit of fuel?💦
It happens. Maybe the nozzle wasn’t quite where you thought it was, or the container decided to make things interesting.
Whatever the reason, if you spill fuel at the pump, remember to:
✋Stop the pump: If fuel is still coming out, hit the emergency stop and tell the station staff.
🚗Leave the engine off: Wait until the spill has been cleaned up and a staff member says it’s safe to go.
🧽Don’t wash it away: Never hose fuel into a drain. It’s illegal and can cause serious environmental harm.
⚠At an unmanned station: You’ll find spill kits or absorbent material onsite. Use these to help stop the fuel spreading, then call the number displayed at the station.

🚗WOF coming up?🔧

It’s worth checking these things now, before the WOF guy does…
💡Lights: Check your headlights, brake lights and indicators are all working.
🚗Tyres: Have a look at the tread and tyre pressure, including the spare.
🧽Wipers: If they’re leaving streaks or missing bits of the windscreen, they might need replacing.
❗Seatbelts: Check for any obvious damage, fraying or tears.
🛢Oil: Check the level and top it up if needed.

Freshly washed vehicle? 🚗🧽💦Here come the birds! 🐦
It might feel like birds have a knack for spotting a clean car, but whatever the reason, it's best not to leave their calling card behind.

Bird droppings are surprisingly acidic and can damage your paint if they bake on in the sun. The sooner you wash them off, the better.
Waxing your car also adds an extra layer of protection too.

Which side was it again?

We've all had that moment.
You pull up to the pump... then realise your fuel cap is on the other side.

Here's a handy trick. If your dashboard has a little arrow next to the fuel pump icon, it'll point to the side your fuel cap is on. It's especially handy when you're driving a rental, a work vehicle, or you're just having one of those days.
