Another clean install done in Strathmore Park. Two Mitsubishi Electric AP60 Smart high-wall units in this home — 6.8 kW heating/6.0 kW cooling each. Built-in Wi-Fi allows them to fire them up before they get home, with energy monitoring on their phone, Dual Barrier Coating for cleaner internals, and Wide + Long airflow for these open rooms with big sliders. Outdoor units are on proper pads, pipework is insulated and finished properly, and indoor units are level and tidy. That's how they should go in. Another Samsung WindFree in today — tidy indoor, tidy outdoor, job done.
This one came through Mercury Energy’s You Choose promotion. If you bundle your power and broadband with Mercury, you can pick a Samsung WindFree heat pump as a joining bonus:
• 3.5kW for smaller rooms
• 5kW or 7kW if you top up
Mercury supply the unit. You arrange (and pay for) the install. That’s where a lot of people get stuck — some companies won’t touch a heat pump they didn’t sell.

This is what we see far too often around Wellington.

BEFORE
Installed by an electrical company.
Unit not level. Sitting straight on the dirt with no slab or proper base underneath. Rough, messy pipe work and exposed cables. Set up to fail from day one.

AFTER
Installed correctly by a qualified air conditioning & refrigeration technician.
Level, on a proper base, clean insulated pipework, everything finished to standard.

We keep seeing these installs because of those short 4-hour “how to install a heat pump” courses. They leave systems (and homeowners) set up to fail.

That’s a world away from a full 4-year apprenticeship that covers the fundamentals of air conditioning and refrigeration, plus over 20 years actually working in the trade.

Just finished a quality multi-system installation at a multi-level home here in Wellington. These Mitsubishi Electric units are delivering excellent year-round comfort — efficient heating and cooling with whisper-quiet operation, perfect for NZ conditions.
What we installed:
• Floor console in the main living area
• Standalone AP20 mini in the master bedroom
• OmniCore multi outdoor unit serving the dining room (AP42 smart indoor) and spare room (AP20 mini indoor)
• All systems controlled conveniently through the Mitsubishi WiFi app
This was a challenging install — the house sits on a steep hill with three levels and plenty of different angles on the exterior. We carefully positioned everything for optimal performance, neat pipe runs, and minimal visual impact while working around the tricky site.
