KIA AROHAINA Ō TĀTAU MARAE!
The HAMU team are proud to be working with the whānau from Ngāti Hāmua on the refurbishment of Te Māpou Marae in Te Teko. The project has been made possible by the Marae Renovation Programme developed with support from the Provincial Growth Fund.
Marae like Te Māpou contribute so much to our communities, especially as evacuation points and places of refuge in times of natural disaster, so we're grateful for the opportunity to help the locals give the marae a well-earned whakapaipai.
Job creation and employment generation is a major focus of the marae renovation programme and we've been able to take on a couple of local rangatahi (and aspiring chippies!) as a result of the project. Both kaimahi are grateful for the opportunities they have been given to be employed, learn new skills and help refurbish their own marae. Nā rāua aroha nui ki te marae, kaore he tūranga mahi i tua atu i tērā!!
