Inspiring the Next Generation: Career Day with Palmerston North Boys’ High School!

We recently teamed up with Connexis to host an awesome group of students from Palmerston North Boys’ High School for a hands-on career day, giving them a real taste of life in the electricity industry.

The boys didn't just watch from the sidelines - they rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into some serious practical challenges. From operating switchgear and assembling overhead equipment to trying their hand at crane and MEWP (bucket truck) operations, they experienced firsthand what our crews do every day on the tools.

We were incredibly impressed by the enthusiasm, curiosity, and drive of these young men. They asked sharp, thoughtful questions and brought fantastic energy to the site, which thoroughly blew our seasoned team members away!

A massive shout-out and thank you to Zoë Venter for her incredible work in coordinating and pulling this highly successful day together.

We also want to extend a huge thanks to our industry partners, Milwaukee Tool and J. A. Russell Ltd, for generously sponsoring prizes that added an extra layer of excitement for the students.

Investing in these days is so rewarding for our team. We are incredibly proud to support our local community and help inspire the next generation of trade and utility professionals right here in our region.

A sincere thank you to the Eastern Bay of Plenty community for their support during Cyclone Vaianu.

Cyclone Vaianu caused widespread damage across the Eastern Bay of Plenty, leaving more than 10,000 customers without power at its peak.

Despite challenging conditions, an incredible regional effort led by Horizon Networks saw power restored to 100% of affected customers.

Thank you to our communities for your patience, and to our crews, partners and emergency services for working tirelessly to keep people safe and restore power.

We’re proud to be part of a region that shows up for each other.

Reminder: Keep trees clear of power lines to help reduce future outages.

We ask that the community treat all downed or damaged power lines as live and report immediate hazards to 0800 HORIZON (0800 467 496).

𝗡𝗼 𝗛𝗼𝘁 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲

Horizon Networks wishes to advise of an issue that has impacted the hot water supply for some consumers. The issue is not caused by the assets owned by Horizon Networks.

Initial investigation suggests that the issue is linked to an electricity meter that is owned by the Metering Equipment Provider (MEP) that your retailer uses.

We acknowledge the frustration of being without hot water and would like to thank you for your understanding as the metering provider works to restore service.
