Progress on the Papua New Guinea Centre for Eye Health is looking brighter than ever. ☀️

Solar panels are currently being installed on the roof of the new Centre in Port Moresby — a major milestone in the build.

Once complete, the 419-panel off-grid solar system will provide reliable, renewable energy for the Centre, reducing the impact of periodic blackouts and lowering ongoing energy costs.

This is a key part of the Centre’s climate-smart design, alongside rainwater harvesting, LED lighting, demand-controlled ventilation, heat pumps for hot water, and durable materials designed to withstand climate-related risks.

This milestone has been made possible through the generous support of Latter-day Saints Charities, and through an exemption from PNG Power that allows the Centre to establish an independent solar system to support sustainable public health services.

Once complete, the Centre will help more people in PNG access quality eye care, while training the next generation of local eye health professionals.

We recently celebrated 6-yrs of providing full-time technical engineering support services to the building & construction industry in PNG.

7 Years ago, the building services fraternity in PNG was in dire need of local professional experience, and the local technical expertise graduating from our technical institutes were few and far between.

DHV is a Port Moresby based brand, decided upon by my three daughters now aged 14, 18 and 21, back in 2020 during the height of the CoVid-19 pandemic.

Our primary focus was to create a home-based technical learning environment for young PNG graduates to work and train as building services technical officers, and we are delighted to have achieved this goal within the first 5-yrs of our operations in PNG.

On behalf of the entire team at DHV, we extend our appreciation to all our valued clients, our fellow professional consultants/experts, local statutory/regulatory team-members, the respective engineering & architectural institutes and our families & friends, for allowing us to be part of your business investment and growth.

Your investments has allowed DHV to provide on-going training for young PNGean in the building industry, and a source of employment for our respective families. Thank you!!!

This image shows our 2026 graduate technicians, with a combined technical & engineering experience of over 15-years, all young PNGean below the age of 29.

DHV Project No. 1426

King Solomon Hotel has officially revealed its new look today, marking an exciting milestone in the first stage of a major three-stage redevelopment that promises to transform both the hotel and the streetscape of Honiara.

Stage 1 of the redevelopment, scheduled for completion in 2026, is already generating strong public interest. Once completed, it will introduce a completely renewed hotel foyer and reception, setting a modern and welcoming tone for guests and visitors alike. A key highlight is a full commercial kitchen designed to be visible to the public, offering a unique behind-the-scenes dining experience rarely seen in the region.

Adding to the excitement is the inclusion of a microbrewery surrounded by a bar, allowing guests to watch their beer being brewed before enjoying it fresh from the brew kettles. This innovative feature will be complemented by a new, large restaurant and café, complete with modern amenities, positioning the hotel as a vibrant social and culinary hub in the capital.
