A Registered Master Electrician (RME) is authorized to be the Person In-Charge of Electrical Installation not exceeding 600 volts and 500 KVA — as indicated in Box 4 of the “Application for Electrical Permit”.

According to the Philippine Electrical Code (PEC) and Republic Act No. 7920 (The New Electrical Engineering Law):

• Registered Master Electricians (RME) may install, wire, operate, maintain, and repair electrical systems.

• However, their scope of practice is limited to systems not exceeding 600 volts and 500 KVA.

Responsibilities of an RME as “Person In-Charge of Installation”:

• Supervise or directly perform electrical installation works.

• Ensure the installation complies with the PEC and local building codes.

• Certify completion and safety of the electrical system.

• Coordinate with the Professional Electrical Engineer (P*E) or Registered Electrical Engineer (REE) for design and planning.

When filling up the Electrical Permit Application, an RME can legally sign under Box 4 (“Person In-Charge of Installation”), as long as the project’s voltage and capacity limits are within the RME’s authorized range.

Ang RME o Registered Master Electrician ay lisensiya na ibinibigay ng PRC (Professional Regulation Commission) sa Pilipinas upang makapag-practice ng electrical works alinsunod sa Philippine Electrical Code (PEC) at sa Republic Act No. 7920 o “The New Electrical Engineering Law.”

Ang isang taong may RME license ay legal na pinapayagan na magsagawa ng mga electrical installation, maintenance, at supervision sa mga electrical systems basta’t sakop ng limitasyon ng kanyang lisensya.

Mga karaniwang tungkulin ng RME:
• Gumagawa at nag-i-install ng electrical wiring systems.
• Nagpapanatili at nagre-repair ng electrical equipment.
• Tinitiyak na ligtas at sumusunod sa PEC ang mga electrical installation.
• Supervisor/In-charge of electrical works (Not exceeding 600volts or 500kVa).
