The project involved the structural design of the Bayambang Blue Sky Amusement Park Development, including all facilities within the park.
During construction, one of the buildingsโthe indoor amusement structureโwas found to be non-compliant with the original structural plans. The firm was engaged to conduct a structural assessment of the building under actual site conditions. The assessment revealed that the structure was inadequate to resist the designed wind and seismic loads. A retrofitting plan was then developed to enhance structural capacity without removing the existing steel members that were not constructed per the original plans. The solution included the addition of steel braces to compensate for the missing stiffness of the structural system.
The retrofitting work was critical to ensuring the safety of amusement park guests and preventing potential structural hazards. Additionally, the development contributes to regional economic activity by supporting tourism and recreational infrastructure.
The project utilized Bentley STAAD.Pro for structural modeling and analysis, alongside IDEA StatiCa, which allowed for fully integrated calculations. The compatibility between STAAD.Pro and IDEA StatiCa facilitated efficient workflow and accurate structural assessment, enabling reliable retrofitting solutions.
