Upang maiwasan ang sakuna dala ng pinangangambahang pagguho ng mga gusali sa lungsod ng Naga dahil sa lindol, sinasagawa sa mga estraktura dito ang ebalwasyon na pinagtutulungan ng City Engineer's Office at Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE).

Ang bagay na ito ay kinumpirma kanina sa Doble Pasada ni Engr. Junmar Rey Aguilar, assistant city engineer. Ngunit prayoridad ngayon sa pag-aaral ng kaniyang tanggapan at ng organisasyon ang Naga City People's Mall (NCPM) kung saan matagal nang namataan ang structural deterioration dahil sa tanda ng mercado.

Ayon kay Aguilar, sa nasabing pagsusuri, malalaman ang mga aksyon na kailangang gawin ng pamahalaang lokal sa gusali ng pamilihan kasali na ang retro fitting kung kinakailangan.

Ang resulta, inaasahan na lumabas ngayong buwan upang sa ganon ay mabigyang rekomendasyon ang city hall hinggil sa mga dapat gawin sa NCPM.

Maliban dito, ibinahagi din ni Aguilar ang planong pagpasok ng kaniyang tanggapan at ng PICE sa isang memorandum of agreement.

Sa pamamagitan ng MOA, magiging regular na ang kanilang pag-aaral sa mga nakatayong pribado at pampublikong gusali sa Naga.

Taong 1965-1969 itinayo ang merkado, dating "Naga City Public Market", sa ilalim ng termino noon ni dating mayor Ramon Felipe, Jr. at idinaan sa inagurasyon bilang kauna-unahan at pinakamalaking single-roof market sa Asya. || Radyoman Paulo Papa
