A New Chapter for Rice Farming in Iloilo
Straw Innovations Inc. has officially signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding with the Iloilo Provincial Government to strengthen rice harvesting, postharvest processing, and sustainable rice straw management in the province.
Through this partnership, we will work closely with the Provincial Government, Pototan LGU, farmer groups, and the Rice Processing Complex to better coordinate mechanized harvesting with drying and milling operationsโhelping reduce postharvest losses and improve efficiency across the rice value chain.
Straw Innovations will provide mechanization, technical support, operator orientation, and equipment deployment and maintenance assistance, while also advancing better ways of managing and creating value from rice straw through collection, livestock feed and bedding, composting, mushroom production, and other sustainable pathways.
The MOU was signed by Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., Pototan Mayor Rafael Enrique Lazaro, and Straw Innovations Brand and Marketing Manager Jay-Rness D. Ceria, with Ms. Ellen Anthony, Second Secretary for Climate of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), also present during the signing.
This partnership is an important first step toward building a more efficient, productive, and circular rice value chain in Iloiloโone where we create more value not only from every grain harvested, but also from the straw left behind.
