In collaboration with Engr. Albert Pamonag of Albert Pamonag Engineering Consultancy, EJDC Structural Engineers conducted the extraction and sampling of structural steel elements from a fire-exposed warehouse in Tanauan, Batangas last July 19, 2025 for structural evaluation.
Laboratory results revealed that while the fire-exposed steel exhibited a gradual increase in tensile strength, it also showed a significant reduction in ductility (elongation). This indicates that although the steel may appear stronger, its brittleness increases, making it more vulnerable to sudden fracture under load — a critical factor in post-fire structural integrity assessments.
