🚀 DIGICARE CONTINUES TO EMPOWER COMMUNITIES ACROSS SURIGAO DEL NORTE! 💙🌐

Following the successful pilot rollout of the DIGICARE (Digital Citizenship Awareness and Responsible Engagement) Cyber Hygiene Program with the Mamanwa women and children of Sitio Tagbasingan, Brgy. In Mat-i, Surigao City, last March, in celebration of National Women's Month, the initiative has reached another milestone with its second community rollout, this time empowering senior citizens in the Municipality of Sison.

In line with the vision of Governor Robert Lyndon S. Barbers for an inclusive, smart, and digitally empowered Surigao del Norte, the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte, through the Provincial ICT Office (PICTO) and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), partnered with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) – Surigao del Norte, JCI Surigao Wensie, and LGU Sison to bring the program closer to another important sector of our communities.

A total of 49 active senior citizen representatives from various barangays in Sison participated in the DIGICARE Cyber Hygiene Seminar, where they learned about digital literacy, responsible online behavior, cybersecurity, and practical ways to protect themselves from online scams and emerging cyber threats. In today's digital world, empowerment has no age limit.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our guest speakers from DICT, Ms. Shielamhe M. Laid and Mr. Clark Jirves S. Consigna, who shared their technical expertise and led engaging discussions with our participants.

This activity was made possible through the dynamic support and involvement of key leaders and partners, including the Municipal Government of Sison, led by Mayor Leicester P. Fetalvero, ably represented by Vice Mayor John Lester R. Fetalvero, along with Sangguniang Bayan Member Karissa Fetalvero-Paronia, MSWDO Analyn Bacasnot, JCI Surigao Wensie LO President Ms. Sheila Lauren P. Mijares, DICT Provincial Director Engr. Ricardo Bacolod, Jr., and the senior citizens of Sison led by the Federated President Cresencio E. Maglupay and OSCA Head Nonito D. Calang.

From indigenous communities to our senior citizens, DIGICARE continues to expand its reach, ensuring that every Surigaonon is equipped with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world safely, responsibly, and confidently.

This is what meaningful collaboration looks like. Together with our partners, we are building a safer, smarter, and more digitally empowered Surigao del Norte- one community at a time.

🏛️⚡ MILESTONE FOR PICTO: Hosting our very first benchmarking delegation! 🎉

We were honored to welcome our neighbors from Surigao del Sur- led by DOST-PSTO, alongside representatives from the Surigao del Sur Provincial Government and the Office of the First Congressional District, for a special learning visit to PRISM! 💡✨

From exploring interactive museum exhibits to showcasing digital fabrication in action with 3D-printed tokens, the visit highlighted how local governance and technology come together. We were also proud to share our digital transformation initiatives, systems, and operational frameworks.

Under the leadership and vision of Gov. Robert Lyndon S. Barbers, Surigao del Norte continues to champion innovation, research, and science education.

The 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 (𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗢) was delighted to participate in the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, spearheaded by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

Throughout the celebration, the team had the opportunity to help facilitate the 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗠 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁 alongside the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 (𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧) Surigao del Norte, introducing visitors to science, technology, and innovation initiatives that promote awareness and strengthen community resilience.

Additionally, 𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗢 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱, 𝗘𝗻𝗣. 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲 was honoured to serve as one of the judges for the Reels Challenge and Digital Poster Making Contest, where participants showcased their creativity and shared meaningful messages on disaster preparedness.

Furthermore, our very own 𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗞𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗣. 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘆, 𝗔𝗯𝗱𝘂𝗹 𝗙𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗔. 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻, and 𝗔𝗹𝗷𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰 𝗖. 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗹 also developed the official Tabulation System used for the competition’s smooth and organised overall operations.

What a productive day for Surigaonon MSMEs!

Last June 30, 2026, MSMEs from across Surigao del Norte gathered at the PRISM - Provincial Research, Innovation, and Science Museum 𝗦𝗗𝗡 Building, Surigao City for the Training-Workshop on Basic Canva Design Skills with Artificial Intelligence Through a strong spirit of collaboration among government agencies, resource speakers, and participants, the activity became a dynamic learning space where ideas were shared, skills were developed, and innovation was encouraged.

From complete beginners to confident creators, participants left equipped with practical digital design skills and AI-powered tools to help grow their businesses.

Resource speakers from the Provincial Information and Communications Technology Office (PICTO) shared valuable insights on digital design and the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in business.

Vincent Paul Pacleb introduced participants to the fundamentals of Canva, covering platform navigation, essential features, and the Seven Principles of Design. Vince Gabriel L. Eder demonstrated Canva's AI-powered features and showcased practical AI applications that can help MSMEs improve productivity, enhance creativity, and drive innovation.

The workshop also featured a presentation by PICTO Head, EnP. Graciela E. Mante on Artificial Intelligence for MSMEs: Practical AI Tools where participants discovered accessible AI tools that can streamline operations, create compelling marketing content, and strengthen their competitiveness in today's digital economy.

This successful initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte, through the Provincial Information and Communications Technology Office (PICTO), in partnership with the Surigao del Norte Provincial Offices of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

The activity also supports the initiative of Governor Lyndon Barbers (Gov. Lyndon Barbers Page) in advancing innovation and digital transformation across the province, empowering local entrepreneurs to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
