Greenstone Resources Corporation (GRC) once again demonstrated its proficiency in safety and emergency preparedness when its Emergency Response Team (ERT) successfully defended its title as Overall Champion during the 2026 Governor’s Rescuelympics in Surigao del Norte – making history as the competition’s first back-to-back champion. The victory follows Greenstone’s championship debut last year and reaffirms its leadership in the region.

Throughout the competition, the Greenstone team delivered an outstanding performance, leading in the Ultimate Rescue Challenge, Community Fire Buster, Blazing Tactics, and Hose Management Relay. The team also received recognitions for its unified strategy: the Most Organized Team, Best Team Dynamics, and Most Competitive Team special awards – further highlighting the discipline that has become synonymous with Greenstone’s safety culture.

Greenstone’s consecutive victories are underscored by its sustained investment in regular rescue simulations, firefighting drills, specialized technical rescue training, and competency enhancement programs. These ensure that the company’s ERT remains in shape and adequately equipped to respond effectively to emergencies within its operations and host communities.

TVIRD Salutes Principal Mercy Sutacio of Depore Elementary School

When Ma’am Mercy D. Sutacio assumed the principalship of Depore Elementary School (DES) in August 2023, she stepped into a school with needs that were visible and immediate. Classrooms needed repairs, facilities were limited, and a growing number of learners was placing greater strain on spaces already struggling to accommodate them. Still, Sutacio saw a school worth investing in—a community with teachers willing to persevere, parents ready to help, and children whose aspirations deserved a better place to take root.

Soon, Ma’am Mercy will turn over the school’s leadership. She leaves behind more than completed projects: a school with more suitable learning spaces, facilities that better respond to its needs, and partnerships that have expanded what the community can provide for its learners.

In that transformation lies a legacy built together—a principal who saw beyond the school’s limitations and believed in what it could become, and a partner that helped shape what it could be. Today, that vision lives not only in repaired classrooms and improved facilities, but in the children who now have more space, support, and opportunity to learn, grow, and imagine what comes next.

From July 28–30, 2026, the Governor’s RescueLympics 2026 brought together rescue teams from local government units and industrial organizations across Surigao del Norte for three days of intensive challenges, skills development, and shared learning. Organized by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) – Surigao del Norte, the event provided responders an opportunity to demonstrate their preparedness, technical capabilities, discipline, and teamwork in various emergency response scenarios.

The Greenstone Resources Corporation Emergency Response Team (GRC ERT) once again demonstrated excellence in emergency response, securing the Back-to-Back Champion title in the Industrial Category and earning Overall Champion with a perfect 100 points. The team emerged champion in the Ultimate Rescue Challenge, Community Fire Busters, Blazing Tactics, and Hose Management Relay, while also receiving special awards for Most Organized Team, Best Team Dynamics, and Most Competitive Team.

More than a competition, RescueLympics reinforces the importance of continuous training, collaboration, discipline, and readiness in responding to emergencies where every second matters. The achievement reflects GRC ERT’s sustained commitment to preparedness, operational excellence, teamwork, and the protection of lives and communities.

From July 4 to August 1, 2026, Greenstone Resources Corporation (GRC) brought together its employees for a month-long celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, camaraderie, and friendly competition. Through various activities in Larong Pinoy, Indoor Games, Outdoor Sports, and E-Games, the Sportsfest provided an opportunity for employees to strengthen teamwork, build camaraderie, and celebrate the spirit of unity.

The celebration concluded with special competitions, recognizing Team Knight Vanguards (Fleet Maintenance Department) as the Hip-Hop Competition Champion and Team Roman Gladiators (MEPEO, Safety and Health, and Exploration Departments) as the Mass Dance Competition Champion. Congratulations as well to Team Spartan Legions (Mines Division & Mine Dewatering Department) for emerging as the GRC Sportsfest 2026 Overall Champion, demonstrating consistency, discipline, teamwork, and perseverance throughout the competition. GRC extends its appreciation to all players, coaches, organizers, referees, committee members, supporters, and participating departments for making this year's Sportsfest a meaningful and memorable celebration.

During his speech at the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and Deed of Donation signing ceremony, Greenstone Resources Corporation Assistant General Manager for Support Services Joey Cameros emphasized the importance of building a strong and sustainable partnership between the mining industry and the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte. He noted that meaningful progress can only be achieved when government, industry, and communities work together toward shared goals and a common vision for the province.

Cameros underscored that Greenstone’s commitment goes beyond its mining operations, recognizing the importance of being a responsible and reliable partner to the communities where it operates. He highlighted the need to nurture the province’s identity, preserve its rich culture, and contribute to initiatives that uplift the well-being, capacity, and vitality of its people.

Greenstone Resources Corporation recently joined the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte for the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and Deed of Donation for the rehabilitation and renovation of the Provincial Community Training Center in Barangay Bad-as, Municipality of Placer, Surigao del Norte. The signing ceremony was held at Bayay Surigaonon, Surigao Provincial Capitol, Surigao City.

Representing Greenstone was Assistant General Manager for Support Services Joey Cameros, together with leaders and executives from mining companies across the province. The event was also attended by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Caraga, represented by OIC-Regional Director Engr. Francis Glenn Suante, and the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte, led by Governor Robert Lyndon S. Barbers.

More than a signing, the initiative reflects what can be achieved when government and industry come together with a shared commitment to the community. For Greenstone, responsible mining means being a partner in creating opportunities, strengthening community facilities, and helping build a better future for the people of Surigao del Norte.
