Hunza Foods was honored to host the Nutritious Fruit Bars Project, funded by DANIDA and supported by GAIN, AFI, PBC,Sun Business Network Pakistan and ACTS, which delivered valuable training on food safety, hygiene, post-harvest loss reduction, and value addition for our region’s farmers and processors.

We especially thank our partner GAIN, who traveled over 800 km from major cities to the mountains of Gilgit Baltistan to stand with our communities. This dedication reflects a true commitment to supporting resilience in remote regions.

During the sessions, farmers, processors, youth, and students actively engaged and voiced a clear message: more initiatives like this are urgently needed. The Chief Guest, Mr. Fida Hussain, Chairman, Chief Minister’s Inspection Team, Gilgit, also emphasized the importance of such interventions and requested that more projects of this kind be initiated to strengthen the region’s food systems.

With climate change, glacier melting, floods, post-harvest fruit losses, and malnutrition deeply affecting the area — and tourism badly disrupted — such projects are becoming lifelines for sustainable livelihoods.

We are proud to share that Mr. Gari Khan, Production Manager at Hunza Foods Processing Company (Pvt.) Ltd., successfully participated in the two-day workshop on “Building Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) for Sustainable Growth”, held in Lahore with the support of DANIDA DMDP, organized by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) Pakistan and The Pakistan Business Council through the SUN Business Network (SBN) Pakistan.

This workshop brought together a diverse group of stakeholders and member companies—including Hunza Foods—to explore key international standards such as the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD), and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs).

Mr. Gari Khan actively contributed to the sessions, developed a customized RBC action plan, and was awarded a Certificate of Participation in recognition of his commitment to sustainable business practices.
