The Centre For Advanced Studies in Biotechnology was established in January 2002 and it was upgraded and redesigned as Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering in April 2003. The challenge of 21st Century among other things would require advance and applied research activities to promote and contribute to the scientific, technological and economic development of the country. Newly establ
ished Institute in near future will provide research facilities in the area of Plant Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, healthcare, environment Biotechnology and Genetics. In very short spin of time, the institute has organized Three International Symposium and Two Training course on Biotechnology. Institute has established International linkages / collaborations with highly reputed Laboratories or groups of Asia & Europe such as; Nuclear Institute of Agriculture, Tando Jam, Biotechnology Division, HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, Biotechnology Research Laboratory, Department of Biochemistry, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, Institute of Biochemistry & Biophysics, University of Tehran, Iran; and Institute of Organic Chemistry & Biochemistry, University of Bonn. The Memorandum of understanding has been signed by worth Vice Chancellor with National Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Tehran, I.R. Iran, International Center for Science and High Technology and Environmental Science, Kerman, I.R. Iran, Shahid Bahoner University Kerman, I.R. Iran, Ain Shams University Cairo Egypt and State Key Laboratory of Bioreactor Engineering, East China University of Science & Technology, Shanghai, China.
