Mari Energies Limited (MARI) and Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) have partnered with Turkish Petroleum Overseas Company (TPOC) to boost Pakistan’s offshore exploration potential.

Under the new farm-out agreement, both MARI and OGDCL will each acquire a 20% working interest in the Eastern Offshore Indus-C Block from Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL).

TPOC, a subsidiary of Türkiye’s national oil company, will act as the operator of the block, marking a significant step in strengthening Pakistan–Türkiye energy cooperation and expanding investment in offshore resources.

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), operating the Shah Bandar Block in Sujawal, Sindh, has made a major discovery of gas and condensate at the Jhim East X-1 exploration well.

Key details:

🔹Well drilled to ~2,545 meters into the Upper sands of the Lower Goru Formation.
🔹Testing showed 13.69 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of gas, plus 236 barrels/day of condensate, flowing at a wellhead pressure around 2,668 psig.
🔹The discovery marks the second successful find in the Shah Bandar Block, further enhancing Pakistan’s indigenous energy reserves.

This could help narrow the supply-demand gap in energy, reduce dependence on imports, and support Sindh’s local economy.

سندھ کے ضلع جامشورو میں کوٹری بلاک ون سے گیس کے نئے ذخائر دریافت ہو گئے۔پاکستان پیڑولیم نے گیس ذخائر کی دریافت پر پاکستان اسٹاک ایکسچیبج کو خط لکھ کر مطلع کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ کوٹری بلاک میں واقع بارکی ون کنوئیں میں کھدائی کاعمل 21جولائی 25 میں شروع ہوا۔کنوئیں کی کھدائی 3 ہزار 392 فٹ گہری کی گئی اور ہائیڈرو کاربن امکانات کا جائزہ لیا گیا۔ کنوئیں میں کمپلیشن انٹیگریٹی ٹیسٹ کے دوران 1.5 ملین مکعب فٹ یومیہ گیس ذخائر ملے، کنوئیں سے حاصل گیس کے بہاؤ کو بہتر کرنے کیلئے ایسڈ اسٹیومولیشن کا عمل سرانجام دیا۔خط کے مطابق کنوئیں سے حاصل گیس کا بہاؤ بڑھ کر یومیہ 5.5 ملین مکعب فٹ تک پہنچ گیا، کنوئیں سے حاصل گیس کا بہاؤ 460 پاؤنڈ فی مربع انچ سے زیادہ ہے۔کوٹری نارتھ بلاک میں واقع مزید کنوؤں سےگیس حاصل کرنے کیلئےجانچ پڑتال کاعمل شروع کر دیا۔

Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a significant hydrocarbon discovery at its Bitrism East-1 well in Khairpur, Sindh.

The well, spudded on June 30, 2025, reached a depth of 3,800 meters in the Sembar Formation. Drill Stem Tests confirmed a combined potential of 22.5 MMSCFD gas and 690 BCD of condensate.

OGDCL, holding 95% working interest with GHPL (5%), said the find strengthens Pakistan’s energy security by adding to indigenous reserves.

Analysts expect a positive earnings impact for the company.

Sikandar Ali Memon has been appointed Chief Executive Officer/ Managing Director of Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) on September 21, 2025. A seasoned industry professional with over 30 years of diverse international and national leadership experience in oil and gas production, Memon joined PPL on November 1, 2023, as Chief Operating Officer.

Prior to joining PPL, Memon’s last assignment was with UEP as Head of Production Engineering and Technology. Besides, he has also served with leading international E&P companies on key positions. These include Head Petroleum Engineering at ADNOC Group UAE, Head of Technical Support Unit at Saudi Aramco, Senior Production Technologist at Petronas, Malaysia and Production Consultant at Occidental Petroleum, besides serving as Senior Staff Engineer at BP Pakistan.
