SPIE MedTech is thrilled to be back with one of our most awaited events of the year.
We present to you Snake up Step 1: Learn Python: A complete Beginner’s Python workshop.

Python is one of the most popular programming languages for machine learning, data science, research and other cutting edge projects. This workshop series is aimed at enabling participants get a basic understanding of python, its syntax and functioning, enabling them to start their dream journey of AI in medicine.
This will be a three day workshop 27-29th September 2023 at CIME from 4:30-7pm taught by the most experienced snakes🐍 one can find at AKU.

Spie MedTech, in collaboration with IMIG, organized the AnkiMedic workshop on June 13th and 14th, 2023, which attracted an impressive turnout of 50+ participants on both days. During the workshop, participants were immersed in the theory of Spatial Learning and Active Recall. They were grouped into small teams and assigned dedicated volunteers who guided them through the instructor's teachings and ensured they followed each step effectively.

Medtech in conversation with Dr.Akbar Waljee:

MedTech members and founder Manzar Abbasa met Dr. Waljee who’s a Gastroenterologist at the University of Michigan and discussed his work in tailoring treatment to a specific individual patient with the help of AI helping to enable physicians in their decision-making. The students discussed their ideas on how AI can be integrated into healthcare and the everlasting dilemma that will doctors be replaced by AI or not? Our team also took him on a campus tour to showcase some of the latest medical technologies being implemented at AKU. Dr. Waljee was very impressed with the enthusiasm demonstrated by the students and expressed his optimism for the future of MedTech.

SPIE-MedTech in collaboration with SIG arranged a visit to SIUT Robotic Surgery department for medical students of AKU. Let's hear about the experience from one of the students.
" Had the privilege of visiting the groundbreaking department of robotic surgery at SIUT! Thanks to SPIE-medtech and SIG for making this possible. What an awe-inspiring experience! Seeing the dedication and hard work of the team to bring advanced medical technology to those in need, completely free of charge, is truly heartening. A group of medical students from SPIE-Medtech and SIG visited SIUT (Sindh Institude
of Urology and Transplant) on 21st October.

They were warmly welcomed by the consultants there including Dr. Asad Shehzad and Dr. Haris H. Qureshi. Dr. HHQ himself gave a tour of the Simulation Lab and the Robotic surgery department at SIUT. The students were briefed about the minimally invasive robotic surgery techniques used in various urological surgical procedures. They also scrubbed in and observed a live robotic surgery in the OR.

Following that, the students discussed future collaboration possibilities between SPIE and SIUT opening a door of opportunities for AKU students.
