“Nutritional and Biochemical Assessment of Asparagus racemosus to Combat Hyperlipidemia Using Rodent Model”

The research was conducted under the supervision of Dr Humaira Ashraf and co-supervision of Ms Mehak Ahsan.

The Department of Food Science and Technology successfully conducted the Final Year Fall Thesis Display along with External and Internal Viva Evaluations today. The event provided students with an excellent platform to showcase their research projects, innovative product developments, and scientific ideas in a professional and academic environment.

We were honored by the presence of our respected external evaluators, Sir Aurangzaib and Sir Adnan Shakeel, whose valuable feedback, insightful discussions, and expert evaluation greatly encouraged and motivated our students.

The department highly appreciates the hard work, creativity, and dedication of all final year students who presented outstanding products and innovative concepts with confidence and professionalism. Their efforts truly reflected the knowledge, research skills, and practical learning gained throughout their academic journey.

The students of the Department of Food Science and Technology proudly participated in the Agri Food Global Investment and Partnership Conference and Expo organized by the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development.

The 3rd Year FST students attended the conference under the supervision of Miss Tahani and Miss Umm e Kulsoom, who also participated in the event along with faculty members and participants from other departments. Their guidance and support provided students with a valuable opportunity to gain professional exposure and industry insight.

During the event, students attended conference sessions, participated in informative workshops, and showcased their projects at the expo. The conference proved to be highly informative and beneficial, allowing students to explore current trends, innovations, and investment opportunities in the agri-food sector.

The active involvement of both students and faculty members reflected the department’s commitment to promoting practical learning, academic excellence, and professional development through participation in national and international platforms.

The students of HND 2nd Year successfully conducted a community awareness session on the topic “Food Plate” at Al Suffah Academy as part of their Community Service initiative.

The session aimed to educate participants about balanced nutrition, healthy eating habits, portion distribution, and the importance of including all essential food groups in daily meals for a healthy lifestyle.

We are proud to share that the students of the Department of Food Science and Technology actively participated and volunteered at the Pakistan Baking Summit and Expo 2026 held on 14 May 2026 at Pearl Continental Hotel Karachi.

The event, organized under the theme “Safe, Sustainable, Affordable, and Exportable Baking”, provided an excellent platform for learning, networking, and professional exposure in the field of baking and food innovation. The summit was organized by National Alliance for Safe Food.

Students of the Department enthusiastically contributed as volunteers and also showcased their academic projects during the exhibition. The participation gave students valuable industry exposure and an opportunity to interact with professionals and experts from the food and baking sector.

A special appreciation to the 3rd Year students who successfully represented their baking-related projects at the event. Their hard work and innovative ideas were recognized with certificates and trophies, making the department proud.
