PPMA Post‑Budget Consultative Meeting – Federal Budget 2026‑27

On 17 June 2026, the Pakistan Plastic Manufacturers Association (PPMA) brought together its leadership and members from across the country for a high‑level Post‑Budget Consultative Meeting at the PPMA Head Office, Karachi.

While South Zone members joined in person, our North Zone colleagues connected via Zoom — a true nationwide dialogue.

Chaired by Mr. Shoaib Munshi, Mr. Syed Nabeel Hashmi, Mr. Zafar Saeed, Mr. Ehtesham Uddin, Mr. Shakil Ahmed, Mr. Abdul Rehman, and Mr. Zahid Ahmed, the session took a deep dive into the Federal Budget 2026‑27 and its implications for Pakistan’s plastic manufacturing sector.

Key concerns included the need for stronger SME support mechanisms and opposition to the proposed inclusion of plastic household articles under the Third Schedule of the Sales Tax Act, 1990.

Resolutions Passed:

SME Support Proposal – advocating fiscal & regulatory reforms, simplified compliance, better access to finance, and incentives for technology upgradation.
Sales Tax Proposal – urging removal of Serial No. 63 & 64 (Plastic Household Articles, Chapter 39) from the Third Schedule to avoid disproportionate compliance burdens and market distortions.
PPMA will now actively engage with the Anomaly Committee, Ministry of Finance, and other relevant authorities to ensure these recommendations are heard and acted upon.

Our commitment remains clear: to champion policies that drive industrial growth, attract investment, create jobs, and secure the long‑term competitiveness of Pakistan’s plastic manufacturing industry.
