Keep the following points in mind to protect your solar system from short circuits and fires during the hot summer months. In extreme temperatures, the power producing unit is more prone to catching fire.
- When installing the solar system, choose the place of the inverter where you can reach it so that you can keep an eye on it when you come and go. Many people are reluctant to install the inverter in a place where they will not have to cycle for months or only in case of a fault.
- Always install the inverter in a ventilated and low temperature place. Most people are reluctant to install the inverter in such a closed and stuffy place where breathing is impossible.
- Do not keep paper, carpet, clothes, wood or any flammable material in the inverter room. This is the cause of most fires. 4- In hot months like May, June, July and August, check the temperature and tightness of breakers and inverter wires. Adjust as necessary.
- Try to install the DB of AC and DC breakers separately and do not install the DB and battery directly below the inverter. 6-Use good and standard quality breakers and switches.
- At least make AC earth compulsory.
- You must check the neutral of your WAPDA so that it is clear. Otherwise ground your transformer.
- Do not overcharge the batteries and keep the terminals always tight.
- Must install fire extinguisher ball above DB which is not so expensive. Two to three thousand are available from the market. This hair helps in extinguishing the fire by bursting itself in case of fire.
- Try installing a brand of inverter made by Voltronic.
- Surge protection device and over voltage/current device are beneficial.
Remember the inverter never fires first. The fire always occurs in the DB or breakers which subsequently burn the inverter. Without your support, your system cannot be safe and effective.
