🔧 Beneath a thick layer of corrosion was a motor that could still be brought back to working order.
When the Perske motor arrived at our service centre, its housing was completely covered in years of corrosion and deposits from the production process. The bearings had seized, and the locked shaft could not rotate.
We started by removing the thickest deposits by hand with a hammer and chisel. The motor then underwent intensive sandblasting.
Dismantling it was another major challenge. Corroded bolts had to be drilled out, while some components were so firmly seized that even a hydraulic puller and heat could not free them.
Interestingly, despite its poor external condition, the inside of the motor was in much better shape. Its robust construction had protected the key components from the harsh operating environment.
As part of the refurbishment, we:
✔️ dynamically balanced the rotor,
✔️ restored damaged threaded connections,
✔️ replaced the bearings and mechanical components,
✔️ resealed the motor,
✔️ checked that the components were operating correctly.
Finally, the motor was repainted.
The result? What looked like a hopeless case turned into a complete success. These are the transformations we enjoy most!
