Villa F.H. | Cost-Driven Design Strategy
In high-end residential architecture, materials are often chosen for their aesthetic and tactile qualities. In the case of Villa F.H., the original design request called for extensive use of brass systems — a material known for its depth, warmth, and prestige.
However, brass is also extremely costly, especially when applied across large architectural elements.
Rather than compromising the design or exceeding the client’s budget, we approached the challenge through strategic material engineering.
Our solution was to divide the project based on visibility, architectural importance, and user experience.
The front-of-house elements were executed in solid brass systems, preserving the design intent where it mattered most.
For the back-of-house areas, such as internal bedroom façades and secondary openings that are less visually exposed, we implemented high-performance aluminum systems.
The key challenge was ensuring that this transition between materials remained visually seamless.
To achieve this, we worked closely with the manufacturer to develop a custom aluminum finish, precisely color-matched to the brass specification selected by the architect. This allowed the aluminum elements to maintain the same visual language while significantly reducing cost.
The result was a solution that balanced design integrity, performance, and budget discipline — without compromising the architectural vision.
