Throwback Thursday to when we took part in the India - Sweden Innovations' Accelerator Program (ISIA) two years ago, strengthening our commitment to India’s energy storage future.

India’s fast-growing renewable energy sector and demand for affordable, reliable power make it a strong match for zinc-ion batteries. Our solution is sustainable, scalable, and well-suited to meet market needs in diverse geographies, offering a domestic pathway to support the clean energy transition.

As CEO Eloisa de Castro says, this is "not just in establishing energy storage to support renewable energy, but also to build partnerships," making India an important consideration for our growth strategy.

Our batteries use zinc and manganese—materials with strong local sourcing and recycling infrastructure across the world, including in India—giving us clear supply chain and cost-efficiency advantages. This directly supports India’s goals for expanding energy storage and building resilient infrastructure.

CTO Mylad Chamoun adds that our chemistry enables “manufacturing capabilities in many countries,” with India being “one of the best examples” as our technology is “suitable where there is a bigger need for cost-efficient batteries.”

We remain fully committed to powering India’s clean energy transition with battery solutions built for sustainability and scale.

Scaling battery manufacturing in Europe starts with strategically navigating supply chain threats head-on. This step underpins a successful clean transition.

According to the EIC Scaling Club reports, supply chain dependencies ranks as the second most significant technical barrier to scaling battery energy storage. At Enerpoly, we addressed this early by building our zinc-ion batteries with European-sourced materials and relying on local supply chains. It’s a model designed to scale while supporting EU regulations, energy independence, and resilience.

The battery sector is global and evolving fast. Manufacturers in other regions have focused on the fundamentals to scale effectively: cost, efficiency, and tightly integrated supply chains. There’s a lot we can learn from that.

As our CEO Eloisa de Castro stated in the report: “De-risking is a key to remain competitive—our approach ensures lower material costs at scale, a robust, local, supply chain, and reduced CAPEX and OPEX to minimize risks.”

Europe doesn’t need to copy what’s already being done elsewhere. We need to adapt global lessons to build upon our local strengths, creating sustainable and resilient solutions from the ground up.

Let’s use this momentum to shape a self-reliant battery ecosystem, right here at home. Contact us 📩 https://hubs.la/Q03rFLfN0

“We will be among the first in Europe to move dry electrode manufacturing from the lab to full production — a solvent-free method that many big battery makers still find tough to scale" — Annika Werneman, Head of Production

Dry electrode manufacturing is a big step toward making batteries safer, more sustainable, and more efficient. Compared to the traditional wet slurry methods, dry coating brings some real benefits:

🔋 Significantly lower energy consumption and OPEX since there’s no drying or solvent handling
⏱️ Faster production by cutting out slow, energy-heavy drying steps
⚡ Higher cell capacity thanks to thicker electrode
🏭 Reduced CAPEX & space footprint with compact equipment—no long drying ovens needed
🌱 Safer & greener with no toxic solvents, less waste, and a smaller carbon footprint

At Enerpoly, dry electrode manufacturing is at the heart of how we’re building sustainable battery production here in Europe.

The recent blackout across Spain and Portugal was a stark reminder of what can happen when energy infrastructure fails to keep pace with change. It exposed the growing strain on Europe’s power systems.

Electricity demand is surging — from data centers, electric vehicles, and electrified heating—while renewable generation from wind and solar is accelerating. But without adequate transmission capacity or storage, the system struggles to balance supply and demand in real time, especially when renewable output varies.

The result is a fragile system. The Iberian blackout made that clear. Europe is facing a perfect storm: aging infrastructure, rapid renewable growth, chronic under-investment, and too little flexibility to absorb shocks and prevent cascading failures.

For María Viéitez, from our marketing team, the blackout hit close to home: “A blackout like this in Spain in 2025 is a sobering reminder that we can't take energy resilience for granted. Spain has been a leader in renewables—now it must also lead in modernizing the grid. Without strong storage and transmission, clean energy can't reach those who need it most.”

We believe storage plays a vital role in making power systems more robust. Now is the time for governments and industry to invest in next-generation storage solutions and stronger transmission networks. Let’s build a power grid ready for the future.
