Highlight of the Week | An In-Depth Exploration of Singapore's Robotics and STEM Scene 🤖🌏

💡 This week, we had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Ricardo, CEO of The Construct from Spain, for a series of in-depth conversations about robotics and education!

📍 Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)
Together, we visited the Singapore University of Technology and Design to learn more about their robotics labs and teaching resources. We were impressed by the school's rich research environment that provides strong support for robotics education and innovation!

📍 Intrinsic Singapore
Next, we visited Intrinsic to talk to a group of ROS development experts, especially about the latest progress of open RMF (Robot Management Framework). The enthusiasm and contribution of each developer gave us a deep sense of the vitality of the ROS community.

📍 EduTech Asia 2024
We also visited EduTech Asia 2024, where we met with Mr. Hu Chunxu, the founder of China's largest ROS learning community “Gu Yueju”, and saw their newest product, the Groundnut Robot, and its hosting hardware, which gave us a sense of the power of innovation in the field of science and technology in education.

📍 Stalford Academy Singapore
In addition, we also visited Stalford International Academy in Singapore to communicate with Ruby, who has been working in Singapore's education sector for 27 years, and had an in-depth discussion on the concept and future direction of technology education. As one of the largest international schools in Singapore, Stalford provides rich teaching resources and lays a solid foundation for cultivating globalized science and technology talents.

📍 ASTAR ARCT - ROS Industrial Master Class
Last but not least, we organized a ROS Industrial Master Class at ASTAR ARCT in Singapore, which brought a hands-on course on open RMF for ROS enthusiasts, including KONE Corporation, and provided an in-depth analysis of ROS applications in the field of industrial robotics.

This event not only gave us a lot of insights from different people on the field of robotics education and development, but also strengthened our belief in promoting the development of robotics education! We look forward to more opportunities for cooperation and exchange in the future! 💪🤖

Last week, we were very honored to be invited to participate in the Chongqing Beibei (北碚) District “Little Engineer” Youth Science and Technology Modeling Contest (重庆市北碚区“小小工程师”青少年科技模型大赛) organised by the Chongqing Beibei District Science and Technology Association (重庆市北碚区科学技术协会), Beibei District Education Committee (北碚区教育委员会) and related committees. The event featured fixed-wing model airplanes, drones, four-wheel drive vehicles and other competitions, attracting more than 500 primary and middle school students from all over the city to gather at Tianyin Primary School in Beibei District, where the atmosphere was warm and energetic!

Our partner, Chongqing Liangjiang Sanle Youth Science and Creativity Center (重庆市两江三乐青少年科创中心), was deeply involved in the hosting of the KT board hand-thrown model airplane competition. The young contestants handmade different styles of airplanes by themselves on the spot using the materials provided. During the competition, they needed to adjust for the parameters such as wind speed, model and wingspan to achieve the best flight distance. Every moment of the students throwing their model planes was a display of the children's wisdom and efforts!

This kind of science and technology competition not only allowed the students to practice their hands-on ability and scientific thinking, but also opened the door for them to explore the world of STEM. Looking at the children's focused eyes, we really felt the infinite possibilities brought about by STEM education. In the future, Rosen Bridge will continue to support and promote more young people to participate in STEM innovation, to help them ignite the dream of Science and Technology in their hearts!

Hey everyone! 👋 As an Robotics Educator, I want to dive into a big question we often overlook: what’s the real value of kids learning robotics, programming, and STEM in Singapore beyond just winning competitions? Do these skills matter if they don’t plan to work in robotics or AI?

🌐 The Future is Now! With tech evolving so quickly, robots and AI are becoming part of our everyday lives. Sharing the story of being a robotics education startup team

On this belated Teachers' Day post, I would like to share an amazing journey of our team as teachers of subjects that are not mainstream.
From our company being established in 2023, we participated in Roboroarz organized by SUTD as a co-organizer and were responsible for the training of the competition, our first attempt to showcase our skills and teaching abilities in a robotics competition event.

In the summer of the same year, we had the honor of contributing to the National Outstanding High School Students Summer Camp at Zhejiang University, where we met some of China's top high school students and realized that education needs to provide children with practical opportunities to apply and practice what they are learning.

In 2024, we set foot on the campus of ZJU again and co-organised the Zhejiang University International Summer Camp, not only recreating the success of the previous year, but also reaching a new height in the camp, completing the teaching of Linux, Python, Generative AI, and industrial-grade Robotics Operating System (ROS) in one week in pure English. The high school students did an excellent job and shined in the final competition and presentation!
We also attended the ROS Summer School hosted by East China Normal University and were invited to attend the AGIROS conference to witness how college students are learning ROS with cutting-edge robots. 🤖🤖🤖🤖

As educators, we once again felt the joy of delivering knowledge and witnessing students apply it! We realized that it is not that students do not know, but merely lack the opportunity and environment to learn robotics and artificial intelligence.
In the same year, our efforts finally bore fruit as two teams received two gold medals in the Singapore 2024 NRC Competition 🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇. The sense of achievement is beyond words.

Only with these achievements, do we dare to offer a long term program because we are confident that we can train the best students and provide them with the right opportunities and platforms at every stage. 🏫🏫🏫🏫🏫

This is our story as a new education practitioner and a time to commemorate the official start of enrollment.

This victory is all thanks to the hard work and brilliant creativity of our students. From brainstorming sessions to perfecting their robots, their dedication shone through. 🌟

Huge congrats to our teams for their outstanding effort and innovation! And a big thank you to our amazing mentors and supporters for your unwavering encouragement. 🙌

We’re so proud of our robotics community and can’t wait to see where this momentum takes us next. Here’s to more awesome achievements and exciting new projects ahead! 🚀💫
