Afrovate Tech Hub, in partnership with University of Sierra Leone-Fourah Bay College Launches the U-SLECCG Project in Sierra Leone — September 16, 2026
The Understanding the Engineering Capability and Capacity Gaps (U-SLECCG) Project in Sierra Leone is a 1-year National Baseline Study funded by the Lloyd's Register Foundation and it seeks to quantify Sierra Leone's engineering capacity and capability across five critical areas: infrastructure, workforce, education, regulation, and innovation.
As part of its core objectives, the project will develop a National Engineering Capacity Data Dashboard — an open, readily accessible repository designed to serve both public and institutional users. The project will also co-develop a National Engineering Capacity Gap Action Plan, offering practical policy recommendations aimed at closing existing gaps in the sector. Together, these outputs will build a stronger, evidence-based approach to ensure a safer engineering practice and understand the capacity challenges facing Sierra Leone's engineering landscape, while informing concrete, actionable steps toward addressing them.
The U-SLECCG project launch brought together stakeholders in the engineering sector and we aim to collaborate with them for the successful implementation.
