The Department of Public Relations and Corporate Affairs of Nile Petroleum Corporation (NILEPET) has noted with concern the recent dissemination of misleading and unverified information online targeting the leadership of the Institution.

NILEPET strongly condemns these malicious attempts to defame the Corporation’s leadership and mislead the public.
We urge the general public and media houses to refrain from sharing or circulating these unverified reports. The Corporation is currently consulting with relevant authorities and reserves the right to take legal action against individuals or entities found propagating false and defamatory rumors.

As the national oil and gas company of the Republic of South Sudan, NILEPET remains fully committed to its mandate of managing the nation’s oil and gas industry with the highest level of integrity, transparency, and professionalism.

NILEPET as a Government parastatal mandated to oversee the exploration, production and distribution of petroleum products across the country would like to reassure our stakeholders and the general public that our Downstream Division is fully operational and continues to ensure the uninterrupted supply of high-quality, affordably priced fuel, lubricants, and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to meet the energy needs of our citizens.

South Sudan's petroleum sector has recorded a major milestone, with crude oil production at GPOC increasing from 44,000 barrels per day to 60,000 barrels per day, the highest production level achieved since the company began operations in 2005.
During a briefing by petroleum sector leaders, H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit commended the achievement and emphasized the importance of maintaining stability in the oil fields while continuing efforts to enhance production.
The President noted that a strong and stable petroleum sector remains vital for economic growth, national development, and improved service delivery for the people of South Sudan.
NILEPET remains committed to supporting the sustainable growth of the country's oil and gas industry through strategic partnerships, operational excellence, and local capacity development.

Nilepet Strengthens Safety Culture with Comprehensive HSE Training for Core Staff.

The Director General of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), Michael Ruot Mayen, has underscored Nilepet’s unwavering commitment to operational excellence following the successful completion of a comprehensive HSE capacity-building program.

The intensive training initiative, designed and executed by Nilepet’s HSE directorate successfully upskilled a total of 80 corporate personnel. The cohort included 20 professionals from the General Services (GS) department and 60 dedicated officers from the HSE department, equipping them with advanced theoretical knowledge and practical frameworks in modern safety and environmental management.

Speaking at the conclusion of the program, Director General Michael Ruot Mayen highlighted the strategic importance of continuous professional development in preparing Nilepet's workforce for evolving operational demands. He emphasized that the inherently high-risk nature of the oil and gas sector requires strict adherence to international safety benchmarks, making proactive training a core corporate necessity.
This training is a critical milestone for our workforce," said Mayen. "By elevating our internal capabilities, we are not only enhancing day-to-day operational efficiency but also ensuring absolute safety and environmental compliance across all Nilepet frontiers.
Continuous training is what bridges the gap between compliance and true operational excellence."

The inclusion of both General Services and HSE personnel ensures a unified, organization-wide approach to safety.
Facilitated by industry veterans, the curriculum focused on critical modern competencies, including advanced workplace safety procedures, proactive environmental protection practices, and strict occupational health standards.

Participants reported gaining high-value, practical insights directly applicable to mitigating risks and streamlining daily workflows.
The successful rollout of this program is projected to significantly foster a proactive culture of safety within Nilepet, driving down operational incidents while scaling up sustainable practices.

The HSE Department has reaffirmed its strategic mandate to institutionalize regular training sessions. NILEPET Board of Directors Convenes First Meeting of 2026.

The Board of Directors of the Nile Petroleum Corporation (NILEPET), the National Oil and Gas Corporation of the Republic of South Sudan, officially convened its first session of the year on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
The high-level meeting was chaired by Hon. Africano Mande, Chairman of the Board, and attended by key Board members, including the Managing Director and CEO of NILEPET (and Secretary to the Board), Hon. Emmanuel Athiei Ayual, alongside other senior government officials.

A primary focus of the session was a comprehensive presentation by the NILEPET Cash Call Audit Committee regarding the corporation’s liabilities across its three Joint Operating Companies (JOCs): DPOC, GPOC, and SPOC.
Through strategic fiscal management, NILEPET has successfully shifted out of default status across all three entities:
All liabilities related to monthly Cash Calls (JOC operational expenditures) have been completely cleared. Capitalizing on the rise of global oil prices and increased production levels, the corporation successfully cleared USD $120,874,950.00 and USD $51,882,504.00 related to PETRONAS (PCNL) and NILEPET Participating Interests in DPOC.
NILEPET has finalized a structured plan to clear the remaining balance of historical Cash Calls for SPOC within May and June 2026.

The Board expressed its strong appreciation for the leadership of Managing Director Hon. Emmanuel Athiei Ayual in establishing the Cash Call Audit Committee. It also issued a formal vote of thanks to the Committee for its rigorous, data-driven audit, which has restored financial credibility and empowered the corporation with solid data for future strategic planning.

With default statuses resolved, the Board has instructed the Managing Director and CEO to pivot toward internal debt management and aggressively pursue institutional reforms. To secure NILEPET’s long-term financial health and boost South Sudan's wider economy, the Board adopted five key resolutions:

1. Building Robust cash reserves specifically allocated to seamlessly cover future monthly Cash Calls across all three JOCs.
2. Clearing all historical outstanding pipeline tariffs due to Petrolines for Crude Oil Company Ltd (PETCO) within the next two months.
3. Prioritizing a thorough financial reconciliation process between NILEPET, the Ministry of Finance, and relevant stakeholders to clarify outstanding dues, optimize governance, and streamline strategic sector planning.
4. Partnering with the Ministry of Petroleum and international stakeholders to onboard a new strategic investor. The target is to invest in refinery operations and a crude oil evacuation pipeline connecting Tharjath to Paloch. This initiative aims to scale Tharjath’s current production from an average of 13,000 barrels per day (bpd) to a target of 80,000 bpd, unlocking significant regional economic benefits.
5. ⁠Commiting to substantial investments in modern technology and production upgrades across the oil sector to drive operational efficiency and stimulate national economic growth.

The Board of Directors reaffirms its unwavering commitment to driving deep institutional reforms, enhancing corporate transparency, and fostering sustainable development across South Sudan’s energy landscape.

The Management Committee of Nile Petroleum Corporation (Nilepet) convened its weekly session at the corporate headquarters in Juba to formalize a leadership transition within the executive team.

During the session, the Committee officially welcomed the incoming Deputy Managing Director, Amb. Marina Ayen Gregory, while bidding a professional farewell to the outgoing Deputy Managing Director, Amb. Martha Nyamal Choat,

Speaking on behalf of the management team, Hon. Emmanuel Athiei expressed profound gratitude for Amb. Martha’s dedicated tenure. He commended her strategic contributions and the significant efforts she exerted in strengthening South Sudan’s oil industry.

In his welcoming remarks for Amb. Marina Ayen Gregory, Hon. Athiei highlighted the strategic value she brings to the national oil company. He noted that her extensive expertise and "vast experience" within the petroleum sector will be instrumental as Nilepet continues to optimize its operations and national mandate.
